We have been anxiously awaiting Sparkles' second book and we were not disappointed. My son, who is 5, has grown up watching Sparkles on Sprout & Sproutonline.com & he loved her first book enough to share one with his class.

With Sparkles Goes to Boston, we get to visit a real working firehouse & meet the firefighters that work there. We get to see where they sleep, where they eat & how they come down the pole. We are introduced to several types of fire trucks & even get to visit some kids for a fire safety class. Sparkles always does a great job of making kids comfortable with fire safety & in this book, she shows that firefighters are people who want to keep you safe. They have special trucks, equipment & clothes but firefighters are just people. It presents fire safety in a very non threatening matter. I think Firefighter Dayna Hilton has another hit on her hands with this book!! This is a great way to introduce fire safety to elementary school kids. I would highly recommend this book, as well as its predecessor Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog.
