Diverse and Enjoyable, July 5, 2006

I was pleasantly surprised by this 2 CD set from the William Eaton Ensemble. Sparks & Embers is packed with track after track of acoustic enjoyment. Typically, music in this genre tends to sound alike after a few minutes but not so with this offering. William Eaton's playing and creativity is still fresh after all this time. Sparks & Embers is right up there with Where Rivers Meet which has always been a favorite title from Eaton. I still like his work with R. Carlos Nakai but to explore more instrumental and rhythmic diversity of highest quality, Sparks & Embers should not disappoint.
