Ah the early 90s, dance bands like Happy Mondays and The Farm were the rage. Funky drums and baggy beats.

The Farm weren't the most talented or original of artists but their music was fun. "Groovy Train" and "All Together Now" hit this craze on the mark but the rest of the CD sounds a little dated.

Still, for a blast from the past "Hearts and Minds" and "Don't Let Me Down" deserve a listen as well.

Good for the occasional trip down memory lane.

All together now is one of the most melodic dance songs. I bought it for that song but there are alot more good songs on it. Groovy train is also a awesome song. I miss this era of music the other groups like them happy mondays soup dragons and stone roses are some of my favorite late 80's music.

Such Carefree-fun sounding music:) I especially love 'All Together Now'. I didn't know it was set to the tune of 'Canon In D'LOL. Figures!!(for those who read my reviews,they'll know I'm obsessed with that piece).

Whenever I hear this album, it brings pleasure and times of carefree dancing and fun.

Dance music doesn't age well. I used to like this, or I thought I did, it doesn't do anything for me now. Fans of the old Manchester dance scene may feel a certain nostalgia. I wouldn't say the album was bad, it just isn't very much of anything, it just sorta lies there, it's basically the aural equivalent of a pet rock. I gave it away, and as for my other Farm albums, well, I just threw them away.

What I remember most of this group is a concert that I attented in Brussels almost 10 years ago. We were all into the Manchester hype sitting in with bands such as Happy Mondays, Charlatans, Chapterhouse, Primal Scream, and many more. It was a hell of a party. The CD is now what we call in Belgium ' a bit temps-passé ' (i.e. out-of date) but if you want to get up-to-date with the Manchester rave hype, then you need to buy this one.

Ok so they sound forced most of the time but and this is a big but for those that were on the club scene in the UK when this came out Groovy Train and All Together Now were huge and generally would get the masses moving. Download those two tracks and thats all you need to know.

I know this is house music, but I think The Farm deserves something for the content (though very limited in depth) of their music. Maybe it's because I am an American and the event took place between the English and Germans, but I only first heard of Christmas Truce through All Together Now. They even sing about Nelson Mandela (or Daw Aung San Suu Kyi). It's like dance music for the intellectually curious, or maybe just the curious. I give them 5 stars for not droning on about sex and the usual silly romantic notions.

When people will think back to bands from Liverpool, they are more likely to think of The Beatles than the likes of The Farm and The La's. Not surprising as The Farm can't even manage to find 14 tracks to fill this Best Of, relying on four remixes to end the CD. Groovy Train is still a funky track and All Together Now is destined to appear eternally on indie compilations in the emotional section but otherwise the tracks here are pretty unmemorable a few years after they were released. Stick to The Smiths if you want British guitar music as they did it so much better and with much more consistency.
