5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and impoving year by year
I' ve been watching the Spartacus Gay Guide since it was published for the first time. I have used on numerous trips and I must say that it's by far the best guide of its kind. This new edition of the guide is a proof that the people who write and publish it, put a lot of effort in their work. It's by far better than the previews ones, revised and updated and even...

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better
Upon first look this seems like a great guide. One is overwhelmed with the number of countries and cities listed in this guide--most of the major cities even have maps. The coverage for my city, Seattle, is woefully inadequate and out of date however, which makes me wonder about the rest of the information. Another annoyance is that the description codes (ie...

4.0 out of 5 stars Keep this book in your suitcase or travel bag !, September 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spartacus International Gay Guide 1998/99 (Paperback)
This book is the size of a good novel and is easy to pack into the smallest of suitcases or travel bags. If you're going somewhere...anywhere...this book will tell you how it rates 'pink-wise'. It's easy to read and has handy detachable book marks which not only keep the page you're reading but decipher the 'codes' against each entry. For the bigger cities in the world it even has street maps pinpointing the various bars etc.. What are you waiting for......go buy it !!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent for pre holiday research, August 21, 1999
This review is from: Spartacus International Gay Guide 1998/99 (Paperback)
Having bought this book for the last 20years (!) I can recommend it as a basis for researching places you intend to visit. However be aware that ,with the ever changing face of the gay scene, some places are bound to be history by the time you get there ! All in all ,an excellent guide to what to expect from a venue. And you have the facility to update the author yourself on the basis of your own visits.Alex Hart

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, April 6, 2002
This review is from: SPARTACUS 2001/2002- P (Paperback)
Upon first look this seems like a great guide. One is overwhelmed with the number of countries and cities listed in this guide--most of the major cities even have maps. The coverage for my city, Seattle, is woefully inadequate and out of date however, which makes me wonder about the rest of the information. Another annoyance is that the description codes (ie. D-dancing, P-private club, S-shows, etc.) are not as complete as the Damron guide, so if you're looking for a particular niche crowd, you may not find it listed. On the other hand, this is the only guide of it's kind and it does seem to give at least a good starting point for most any popular travel destination.

I borrowed a copy of my friend's book and used it when I went to San Francisco on business! This book was EXCELLENT...not only did it list the clubs and all, but it also gave a brief description of the club, the clientelle and was VERY informative. I like this better than Damrons!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Very handy, March 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Spartacus International Gay Guide 1998/99 (Paperback)
I travel frequently and always carried a copy with me. Very informative and useful. The only part I did not like is the list of places that they have mentioned to stay. However, this book is excellent and no comparission.
