Format: MP3 Music
Kristin Cotts self-produced debut CD, Spatial Relations, combines thoughtful lyrics, a beautiful voice, and catchy melodies in 12 very appealing songs. The base of every song is her vocals and acoustic guitar, and from there she adds electric guitar, flute, violin, viola, and even a sax on one song. She is often compared with Laura Veirs and also classified as folk, but I find her more melodic than Veirs and closer to an indie sound than strictly folk. Fans of Veirs, The Roches, Sujfan Stevens, Regina Spektor, and Feist will find a lot to like here. My favorite tracks here are "Source of the River" which has some great arrangements, and "I Know I Know" in which her voice really shines.
