4.0 out of 5 stars A Hell Raiser That ended pleasantly.........of all sorts, January 21, 2004

This is the best Spawn game available in the market. Has some Ups and downs, but nontheless, truely great to play. Although above average, the graphics won't leave your eyes popping or jaw dropping, one part of the graphics does succeed ...The characters. Monsters in the game as well characters are detailed and modeled extremely well. The Voice acting is superb! Music is a sight to here, and The game also supports "Dolby surround Pro logic II ". The controls are "Third person action/shooter" in type, which makes it simple to control, and comfortable to the fingers. The game is pretty entertaining, and the boss fights are awesome. If you're a Spawn fan and simply must have a good Spawn video game, go ahead and get it, this game rocks for any action/adventure lover!

4.0 out of 5 stars He loves it..., December 15, 2003

I bought this game for my boyfriend as an early Christmas present. He LOVES it!!! He has collected the Spawn comics for quite some time, and now he has the game to go with it. (I didn't know there were other Spawn games out there.) He said the graphics are amazing. A couple of graphic gliches in the buildings and what not, but over all a very exciting game. You can even collect comics IN the game. (Which even I - a non comic freak - found to be interesting.) I would recommend this game...but too much gore for children. :-)

I was a bit skeptic about this game at first before I bought it here.
But once i popped it in, I found myself sitting through hours of demon hack slashing fun.
I tend to get bored easily and have very little tolerance to small problems like game play, control etc.
But this game lets you run around with a big axe fairly easy.
If youre looking for intense challenges, try the hard setting. (Youre going to have to eventually if want to beat the game at 100%! ...unless youre a hack and cheat through this game using codes..blegh)
The graphics are some of the best Spawn graphics Ive ever seen in any console since the dreamcast game.
This game also has neat sfx, music and the entire atmosphere just feels like the comic itself.
I love it.
Hardcore gamers arent too impressed with game like these but if youre more of a casual gamer like I and dig Spawn, this is one game I recommend renting or buying for your collection.

Its got a bit of gore factor, but thats the good part.
To beat the game 100%, you have to beat it at all 3 difficulty settings.
Since the game is quite fun and quite challenging in some levels, I dont think you'll have trouble strapping up to this one 3 times over. ;]

Excellent fun game and you can find it at an excellent price now!
Buy it! Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars The genious of spawn armagedon, January 16, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Spawn: Armaggedon (Video Game)
Ok lets get a recap. Todd Mc Farlane creates Spawn with some dudes in 1992. And on 2003 they decide to make a Spawn videogame. And so far its awsome. The graphics are top notch and each move is so awsome that It would look as if Spawn was actually possing in your Tv. Oh yeah and don't forget the gun inventory. The game has a varietty of guns making it awsome to kill those hellish criters.
In overall: This is the best goddarn super heroe game ever.PS: Eventally thin game is not for younger players for the blood and the language, but the violence isn't that bad Imean really swinging your axe around like a maniac is not that intence, it's just violent.
And there are not that many blood spurts, exept when you shoot those mother eaters and when you axe them. Blood actually dips down the axe after you have used it. This game is so realistic. Heck even writing about the game makes me want to repay it. A dios meet me at my ps2

AFTER THE LAME '' SPIDERMAN GAME BASED ON THE MOVIE ,I WAS LOOKING FOR A GREAT ACTION SUPERHERO GAME TO COME OUT.'' HULK '' WAS VERY GOOD , BUT THERE HAD TO BE MORE IN THE FUTURE! THEN OUT CAME '' SPAWN '' ARMAGEDDON !!ALL IN ALL IT IS A VERY COOL GAME , THE LEVELS ARE BASIC , NOT VERY HARD AND WITH PLENTY OF ENEMIES TO SLAY AS WELL.BUT A GUIDE IS NEEDED FOR A FEW LEVELS , AS IT IS EASY TO GET LOST CAUSE THERE IS NO MAP FOR YOU TO USE.REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYONE SAYS , YOU SHOULD BUT AMMO AND UPGRADE YOUR WEAPONS.WHILE IT IS TRUE YOU COLLECT LOTS OF AMMO IN THE GAME, YOU CAN STILL RUN OUT OF AMMO.SO SMASH EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING YOU CAN FOR AMMO, HEALTH, AND NECROPLASM.YOUR NECROPLASM ENABLES YOU TO UTILIZE YOUR HELLPOWERS IN COMBAT.BUT IT IS NOT NEEDED, AS MOST ENEMIES YOU CAN TAKE OUT WITH YOU AX -APPROPRIATELY NAMED
'' AGONY '' ..IF YOU USE A HELL POWER - USE YOUR HELL SPEED , BECAUSE YOUR ENEMIES MOVE SLOWER THAN YOU . WHICH MAKES BOSS BATTLES EASIER , AS WELL AS CLEARING OUT HELL SPAWN CREATURES WHEN THEY SURROUND YOU.PLUS YOUR CHAINS YOU CAN USE TO KILL YOUR FOES, AS WELL AS USING IT TO GRAPPLE TO HIGHER LEVELS LIKE ROOFTOPS..AND CHECK OUT HIS CAPE WHEN YOU GLIDE TO HARD TO REACH AREAS TOO! AND YES YOU DO GET TO FIGHT '' VIOLATOR '' AND TWICE.. HERE IS A TIP FOR THE APE BOSS . WHEN HE RAISES A PIECE OF ROCK TO TOSS AT YOU , HIT HIM WITH A NECROPLASN BALL, AND HE DROPS IT ON HIS HEAD AND DROPS TO HIS KNEES.THEN NAIL HIM WITH YOUR AXE , AND KEEP DOING IT AND HE'LL DROP .BUT YOU HAVE TO DODGE HIS FIST SMASHES OR THE BATTLE WILL BE OVER RIGHT AWAY.HOPE YOU'LL HAVE HOURS OF FUN PLAYING THIS GAME , AS I DID.SO GET IT TODAY AND ENJOY!!ALSO CHECK OUT THE NEW '' MAXIMO '' ''THE SUFFERING '' '' ONIMUSHA 3 '' '' RETURN OF THE KING '' AND '' CHAOS LEGION '' YOU WILL NOT BE ONE BIT DISAPPOINTED !!

I recently bought this game seeing that it was only $20. It has a good story with a challenging game too. Possible Spoliers Ahead: Spawn in the beginning is attacked by some green lazer thing. He learns from Mammon a mysterious figure that he will face demons. You will face bosses that include a spider truck, a buldozer, and lots of villains from the comic books. The game is gory and fun for those who don't take the game seriously. If you do then you may like this game, but if you don't care you will enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the better Spawn games thus far..., June 26, 2005

After having had a very dissapointing appearance on the PS1, Spawn took a long haitus from the Sony side of gaming consoles up until now. While this incarnation of Spawn is still not as good as the Super Nintendo Spawn game, this one has quite a bit in it. Featuring a very wide arsenal of guns (probably one of the widest I have ever seen), control over many aspects of Spawn's costume (I.E. his chains and cape) and also a grinding metal soundtrack to fit Spawn's mood, Spawn Armageddon definently captures it's title's essence within the game. There are short commings though here and there, but the regular Spawn fan will probably put these aside rather fast as they delight and delve into the world of Spawn.

The falls of the game:
- Enemy names and design are a little uncreative in spots, especaly on the early demons featured in the game. As the game gets to the angels though, it changes and they actually start to resemble Toddy Mac's work a little better (and actually look pretty cool). Still though, the staple monsters are a little weak in terms of creativity and should have probably been more heavily scrutinized by McFarlane before they finaly went to mass production.]

-Level design is a little unlogical at times and feels thrown togother just to provide a pointless platforming challange. On that note, the level design can also be dissapointing and hampers the game poorly.

-The soundtrack consists of very few songs, all of which are grinding metal tracks that while do capture the 'feel' of Spawn, could have probably been produced a little better. The guitar does not flow naturaly and sounds synthetic on many parts. The lack of work that Marilyn Manson contributed to the game was also dissapointing, as he only supplied one song off his GAOG album. It would have been much wiser if McFarlane and Namco had gotten Manson during his busy schedule (as well as Interscope records) to contribute more material than just one song. This game definently deserved a more splended treatment in the music department.

- Weapons seem to be weakly placed and at times ammo can be too scarce. The guns also seem to act a little stiff and do not really function in the 'this is spawn, guns blazing powerful' way. The mechanics are really messed up here.

-While his chains are a plus, there still could have been more done to bolster the amount of moves Spawn has at his disposale when it comes to his costume. There could have been armor forming moves with his costume, chain shields, massive enemy suffocation with his cape, ect.

-Spawn's agony axe, as well as his Hellborne powers could have had an experience/upgrade system. This definently would have upped the fun factor of the game. And on this note, Spawn should also not start out with all of his powers at once. They could become unlockable as time goes on.

-The final battle of the game is a little misplaced and unfortunate. It would have made better sense to have the game literaly follow the comic storyline and have it end the way issue 100 did. That being said, it is a decent Spawn alternative storyline/side-story, but it definently could have used more to it in terms of actual reflection of the comic.

All that being said, and certainly other fan complaints here and there, this is definently one of the better Spawn games. It seems to pale in comparison to better action games for the Playstation 2, but it is still one of the best Spawn games ever made. If you are willing to look past the gritty metal soundtrack and simplistic (although a little idiotic) gameplay, then you will find yourself enjoying the time you have as Spawn.
