Definitely worth getting. Probably the biggest highlight of this book is the iconic wraparound cover by Greg Capullo, depicting The Redeemer battling Spawn. The book features the first appearance of The Redeemer, as well as some great stories like "Myths" (#14-15), "Reflections" (#16-18), "Showtime" (#19-20) and "The Hunt" (#21-24). Damn good price too.

Also, please keep in mind that this book actually has issues #13-25, not issues #7, #8 and #11-14 (which is actually the Volume Two trade paperback).

Displaying the first 12 issues (no, it's not #1-8 and #11-14) of the most successful independent comic book of all time, this is a book that you just have to have. The book is oversized and has really strong hardcover binding, and features one of the best pieces of cover artwork I have ever seen (by Greg Capullo, depicting Spawn fighting the Violator). The stories are just awesome, and the book actually includes issues 9 and 10, the latter of which has never been reprinted. Issue 9 was only ever reprinted twice (and the two books which it was reprinted in are almost impossible to find). Features guest writing from such legendary writers as Alan Moore ("Watchmen", "V for Vendetta"), Frank Miller ("Sin City", "300"), Neil Gaiman ("Sandman", "Marvelman") and Dave Sim ("Cerebus the Aardvark"). If you want more than the trade paperbacks but can't afford the deluxe hardcovers, this is definitely the item to buy. Plus, keep in mind that the trade paperbacks don't have issues 9 and 10, and these are only about nine bucks more than the trade paperbacks (but if you can afford it, the "deluxe edition" or the "deluxe signed and numbered edition" are the way to go).

Oversized and complete with amazing artwork, this hardcover edition detailing Spawn's origin is a must-have for any fan of Spawn. It also contains issues 9 and 10 (written by Neil Gaiman and Dave Sim, respectively), both of which are difficult to find in ANY collected edition! A magnificent cover by Greg Capullo as well. Here's to hoping for a second volume.
