Easily the best Spawn release yet., January 5, 2011
This review is from: Spawn Origins Collection: Deluxe Edition Volume 1 Signed & Numbered (Hardcover)
Reprinting the first twenty five issues of the most successful independent comic of all time, this is a book that you just can't let pass without buying it. The book has a fantastic hardcover binding, is oversized, and comes in a strong cardboard slipcase (the slipcase and hardcover binding, though very durable, tend to be very vulnerable to scars and scratches and are also very vulnerable to finger-print/hand markings, but the finger-print/hand markings can be polished). It comes with two rarely reprinted issues, previously unreleased artwork (lots and lots of it), and new notes from Todd McFarlane.
The book has three extra unique pages, the second of which is translucent with a picture of Spawn so that when the page is resting against the third page, it creates a background for the picture of Spawn. The translucent page is also signed and numbered (out of 500) by Todd McFarlane.
The book is the second to reprint issue ten (the first being the hardcover edition of "Spawn Origins: Book One", which was never reprinted until 2010 due to an agreement with the guest writer of the issue, Dave Sim (who also included his signature character, Cerebus the Aardvark, as a major character in the issue). Along with this new issue comes a never before seen foreword to the issue by Dave Sim. It also reprints issue nine, which was only ever reprinted three times (and those three books are almost impossible to purchase) due to a long standing lawsuit with guest writer Neil Gaiman.
The book details the earliest adventures of Al Simmons/Spawn, written and illustrated by Todd McFarlane, though it features numerous guest writers such as Alan Moore ("Watchmen", "V for Vendetta"), Frank Miller ("Sin City", "300") and Grant Morrison ("Batman", "Doom Patrol"), as well as guest artwork from Greg Capullo (who later becomes a permanent artist for the "Spawn" series) and Marc Silvestri ("Cyberforce", "Uncanny X-Men").
Overall, this is easily the best Spawn book that has been released so far. Loaded with hundreds of pages of stories, a large amount of artwork, and more, this is an item you simply must have. If you can find a copy within the far reaches of the Internet, just buy it. Trust me, YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!
Plus, keep in mind that since there are only five hundred copies and almost everyone has been bought, it is almost impossible to find (I only know 3 sites that this title is sold on at the moment, and they're all being sold for more than double the price). Make sure that you can get your hands on it before they're all gone!

A Must Have Spawn Collection (especially if just starting out!!!!), October 22, 2010
This review is from: Spawn Origins Collection: Deluxe Edition Volume 1 Signed & Numbered (Hardcover)
Even if you are remotely interested in the Spawn series and have seen the films, you will absolutely love this volume of collected original comics from Todd McFarland!!! This edition is magnificent and you will not believe how impressive it is until you open the cover!!! I am not a hardcore fan of Spawn, but after buying this volume, I can see the reasons why people love this comic series!
In one word... AWESOME!!!!

Don't buy from whypaymorebooks, February 7, 2011
This review is from: Spawn Origins Collection: Deluxe Edition Volume 1 Signed & Numbered (Hardcover)
Overall the book is amazing like other people have said; just don't buy the used one from whypaymorebooks. The book is in really bad shape, not like description when I ordered it. When I got the book it looked like it feel off the back of a truck, but if you can find a used or new one from someone other than whypaymorebooks then the book is well worth it.
