About the Author

Dr. Joye M. Carter was the first female and African American to be selected as a chief medical examiner in the United States. Dr. Carter holds the distinction of having served as Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, DC and Houston(Harris County), Texas as well as the first black medical examiner in the state of Texas.

Dr. Carter resides in Houston, Texas and is a forensic pathology consultant and author.
