Review

I've presented more than 30 keynote speeches this year and the feedback and advice I received from Jezra was invaluable. Now, with the publication of her book, so many will have the opportunity to benefit by simply reading and putting her easy-to-employ advice to use.
--Ted Rubin, Chief Social Media Officer, Collective Bias (100,000+ Twitter followers)

No matter what your position, no matter what your job, we all have to communicate--and this book will take you to the next level of success.
--Anne Loehr, Author, Executive Coach, Keynote Speaker ("Generational Guru," Washington Post)

If you want to get started as a speaker or improve your presentation skills, this book is for you. Jezra's explanations, tips and examples are clear and easy to understand. She has a natural warmth and down-to-earth style that'll make you feel like she's your own private coach.
--Dana Rubin, Director, New York Speechwriter's Roundtable

A must-read for any business professional. Jezra is a speaker coaching guru, and this book will boost your public speaking skills, whether you're a beginner or an expert.
--Jeremy Masters, Founder & Managing Partner, Worklogix

Is there anything new under the sun for public speakers since Demosthenes addressed the roaring sea with pebbles in his mouth? Maybe not; but if you're looking for a clear understanding of the subject, presented in an engaging manner, look no further.
--Charles di Cagno, Director, Public Speaking Center of NY

Jezra's advice and wisdom make public speaking easy and authentic. She'll help you create an experience that not only meets your goals but is enjoyable, too!
--Adelaide Lancaster, Business Coach, and Co-Founder, In Good Company Workplaces; Co-Author, The Big Enough Company

From the Author

I've coached hundreds of people on their communications skills, and the one thing most of them have in common is that they DON'T think they should speak like themselves. They don't think it's okay to just talk to an audience the way they would talk to someone they liked.

That's why so much public speaking is so awful! Speakers who are trying to play it safe, impress an audience, or act like someone besides themselves mostly succeed in just one thing: putting their listeners to sleep.

Don't be that kind of public speaker! Instead, let Speak Like Yourself show you how to be your most powerful self when you communicate, and how to enjoy sharing what you know with an audience.

No, really!

More About the Author

JEZRA KAYE is an acclaimed public speaking coach who teaches people how to communicate with passion, power, authenticity, and ease -- in person, via Skype, and through her books, INTERVIEW LIKE YOURSELF...NO, REALLY! FOLLOW YOUR STRENGTHS AND SKILLS TO GET THE JOB IN 2014 and SPEAK LIKE YOURSELF...NO, REALLY! FOLLOW YOUR STRENGTHS AND SKILLS TO GREAT PUBLIC SPEAKING. These books bring you the same down-to-earth, step-by-step coaching insights that Jezra shares with private clients ranging from university presidents to company presidents, and from celebrity chefs to supermodels.

A former Fortune 500 speechwriter who worked mainly in the pharmaceutical industry, Jezra started her career as a jazz singer and bandleader (she's a proud graduate of New England Conservatory of Music), and supported her jazz habit by working as a secretary, a word processing trainer, a house cleaner, an accounts receivable clerk at J.C. Penney's, a singing waitress, a murder trial typist at the Brooklyn Supreme Court, and other jobs too numerous to mention.

Jezra is also is the co-author, with Anne Loehr, of MANAGING THE UNMANAGEABLE: HOW TO MOTIVATE EVEN THE MOST UNRULY EMPLOYEE, and the author of a novel, THE TATTOOED HEART, about a hard-luck girl who's on the road looking for a man to father her child. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

As an individual who speaks both on stage and on the radio I found this book to be extremely helpful. It is never easy to public speak, to put yourself out there and be judged. However, in the pages of this book I found some real nuggets of powerful information that I believe can transform anyone into a confident ,poised speaker. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone, not just people who speak. It can help with every aspect of human contact, from getting a job, public speaking, to talking your way out of a ticket, to parent teachers conference, to getting into college. This book is filled with advice on how to handle your on voice so the world hears the message you intended. Very powerful!

This book is a must have for anyone dealing with a fear of public speaking. For years I have darn right terrified with public speaking. Jezra Kaye book not only showed me what mistakes I was specifically making with regards to presenting my speeches, but offered easy and simple instructions on how to improve my presentations.

These skills are important as they can be transferred to so many areas in your daily life, from putting together a presentation for work, talking at a local PTA meeting, or church, to interviewing for that next job. I highly recommend this book!
