5.0 out of 5 stars Crank It UP!, May 14, 2005
Outstanding! Turn up the volume for the best sound you can get, and enjoy the complexity of this landmark album.

This album rocks with intricacy and drive. It's a MUST for anyone drawn to any polyrhythmic music, not just you brasileiro fans.

I've been playing this CD since it was first issued in the US and nver tire of it. It's on my special shelf of perennial favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Who is Who" of great Brasilians musicians, .... , March 20, 2005
...and not recorded by a Brasilian label, but the USA "classic" Jazz label Milestone.(Not so surprising , Milestone always a friend and entusiastic supporter of Música Brasileira Contemporanea).

What is amazed, that this recording, from 1991 is being Amazonreviewed in 2005 for the first time!

Bertinho is one of the legends of Brasilian drum tradition , and has assembled a lista too long to cite here, of the best of Brasilian musicans from the many facets of the diamond that is Brasilian sound. Some names quite familiar, some that do not receive the same amount of press clips.

I suppose , if one buys this recording, you will see exactly how many wonderful musicians are on this session. Eu vou te contar, uma luminosa constelacão de convidados espèciais , e Robertinho monstra os dentes na batería!

Only to single out, brevemente, Piano legendary Luiz Eça leads a quartet in one of his classic compositions, "The Dolfin", Hermeto Pascoal is featured (with a burning solo on the escaleta, also known as melodica) on his avant-guarde classic "O Gaio da Roseira".

Egberto Gismonti features in trio (with Nivaldo on soprano) his delightful and tonic for the heart, "Bodas de Prata" and since the entire recording is dedicated to the great mestre and familiar friend of musica brasileira Wayne Shorter, he guest appears in a rousing version of his jazz standard "Speak No Evil", of course!

Milton Nascimento pays back to Robertinho for his fine support of Milton's musics in the past years by delivering the haunting "Lilia" (with Walter Smetek/Harry Partch disciples Grupo Uakti ).
Paulo Moura is represnted as the master of chorinho-jazz he is with "Domingo no Orfeão", and Azimuth co-leader Roberto Bertrami features in "Partido Alto #2 on both "the wood" and DX-piano.

After the too brief opening with Milton's "O Veio", João Donato offers an inspiration, Ary Barroso's Brasilian anthem "Aquarela Do Brasil". Hermeto veterano Mauro Sinise is on flauta here!!

"Um mil" entre os mais importantes músicos brasileiros e o mais completo compendio da tradicão musical! Puxa vida (!), e dificil pinçar o melhor momento!

Do not pass this one up, too many stars in the sky, infinite as we are told. This cd is worth a galaxy for its own merit!
