4.0 out of 5 stars We play this a lot
As a caveat my child is on the young side (2.5) and this disc comes with a book that has activities that she is too young to do yet. That said, she asks me to play these CDs EVERY day in the car. The voices are mostly authentic to the show, but I was little disappointed by the lack of music from the show.

This review is from: Speak Spanish with Dora & Diego: ˇVámonos! Let's Go!: Children Learn to Speak and Understand Spanish with Dora & Diego (Speak Spanish With Dora and Diego) (Audio CD)
As a caveat my child is on the young side (2.5) and this disc comes with a book that has activities that she is too young to do yet. That said, she asks me to play these CDs EVERY day in the car. The voices are mostly authentic to the show, but I was little disappointed by the lack of music from the show.

There are four stories, and each has a scenario (e.g., the park) around which vocabulary words and sentences are introduced. The disc is mostly in English, with the Spanish words and phrases worked in. It's good for children who do not speak Spanish to learn some basics, but if you are looking for an immersion-Spanish disc, look elsewhere.

The stories often have different characters saying the same sentence, changing the verb forms/possessives as appropriate, which is useful and teaches a little basic sentence structure in addition to vocabulary words. Each story ends with a couple of songs in Spanish.

My kid is nuts about these discs (I bought the other set as well) as I mentioned, and she does repeat the words while the disc is played. It's been a worthwhile purchase for me to entertain her in the car.

These CD's/books are interesting/fun enough to keep my child's attention, but teach basic Spanish vocabulary. I'm also learning better with this product than with traditional language learning methods.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, February 9, 2012

(REAL NAME)
My two and a half year old daughter and I have been listening to "Speak Spanish with Dora & Diego! Vamanos! Let's Go!" for a few weeks now. The Dora and Diego set is created in association with Pimsleur and includes two books, two CDs, and a parent guide. There are actually four stories in all, because the books each have two stories in them.

We have used this set in several ways so far. My daughter and I have sat down and read the books together and we have also sat down in front of the CD player and listened to the CD with me helping my daughter point to the pictures in the book. The easiest (for me) way to use this set is to play the CD in the car and hand the book back to my daughter in her car seat. I'm not sure how effective this is, but she's a captive audience in her car seat and doesn't complain when I turn on the CD!

How effective is this program? Hmmm.... I wish I could answer that, but I honestly don't know. It's a lot better than "Pio Peep", but on par with "Play and Learn Spanish", both of which I'll review later.

2.0 out of 5 stars My daughter isn't interested, & neither am I, February 10, 2011
My 3 year old daughter, who normally LOVES books on CD and songs, was completely disinterested in this series. First, Dorah's voice is extremely annoying - squeaky - and she reads too fast. The stories linger, which loses my daughter's attention (as well as my own). Won't order this anymore & wouldn't recommend it.
