4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good Folding Speakers - Recommended!
These Portable Speakers are a surprisingly good value for decent quality portable speakers! There are many sellers rebranding these. We own two sets (black) and I am very pleased with the performance of the these compact speakers, especially at the low price these sell for here on Amazon. Here are my observations:

I purchased the more expensive model- newly redesigned($15)thinking the usb charger would have a wall adapter . The usb charger only plugs into a usb port. Buy the cheeper model that I've seen for $5-$10.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good Folding Speakers - Recommended!, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Black Mini iPod Speakers for iPod Nano 3rd Generation, iPod Touch, iPod Classic, iPod Video, iPod Nano, iPod Photo, Creative Zen Vision M, Sandisk Sansa, Microsoft Zune, Microsoft Zune 2 Portable Tavel Folding Speakers (Electronics)
These Portable Speakers are a surprisingly good value for decent quality portable speakers! There are many sellers rebranding these. We own two sets (black) and I am very pleased with the performance of the these compact speakers, especially at the low price these sell for here on Amazon. Here are my observations:

Pros:
+ Folding; these have a very clever design that allows them to fold in to a small cube for easy transporting
+ Good Sound; produces fairly good sound at all but the highest volume levels (see "Cons", below), at least to my untrained ear
+ Universal Connector; the unit uses a standard mini connector, so this can be used with all of MP3 players
+ Power Options; comes with a USB power cable or it can use 4 x AAA batteries. You can also use a 6v DC power supply (not included)

Cons:
- Bad Instructions; like many products of this type the instructions manual is lacking and, in this case, erroneously lists the power requirements as AC when it should be DC.
- Distortion; at maximum audio levels this sounds pretty bad

Misc:
* iTouch and larger MP3 Plays might not fit as well as others in this (see my picture in "Customer Images"), but they will still work if they have a mini audio jack
* On the iTouch, I found the best sound quality by setting the iTouch volume to about 3/4 max and then making adjustments on the unit's volume wheel

Overall, these are a fantastic value for a set of good quality speakers that have the advantage of being able to fold up for easy carrying!

Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Use Speakers, August 11, 2010

This review is from: Black Mini iPod Speakers for iPod Nano 3rd Generation, iPod Touch, iPod Classic, iPod Video, iPod Nano, iPod Photo, Creative Zen Vision M, Sandisk Sansa, Microsoft Zune, Microsoft Zune 2 Portable Tavel Folding Speakers (Electronics)
Love this product. I take it to the beach and work and it's loud enough to hear over neighbors. It's small enough to throw in my pocketbook or workbag. And it works so easily with my Zune and friends Ipod. I've recommended others to get these speakers as well.

It plays audio and it costs $5. You're not going to be able to play this at a party, but if you're just sitting outside with a couple people it works just fine. Don't expect it to work for anything like listening to while playing some sport, but if you're staying close, you're good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth it but,..., April 10, 2011

There were no instructions so it took a minute to figure out how to connect the MP3 player and what the additional piece was for. Looking at the pictures helped. The only real problem was the sound. I was hoping that speakers with their own power supply would have generate a healthier sound. But, even with the MP3 player & speakers turned all the way up the sound was lacking.

This is a nice iPod/mp3 speaker dock. Very compact. It folds up into a small easily transported package. The sound is OK. Good for personal listening. We use it mostly for listening to audio books. Easy to set up wherever you might be working. It was just what I was looking for.

I wanted cheap speakers and these were indeed economical. The speakers are usually loud enough.

Other than that, I don't like it because of its design. It's awkward and I really don't like using them unless I have to. The dock doesn't really work (my stereo jack is on the bottom so how the heck do I dock my iTouch and also plug it into the speakers?).

I wouldn't recommend unless there really is no alternative.

Well, I purchased this item thinking it would be a compact yet powerful little speaker. I was right to an extent. If you would like a nice folding easy to carry around speaker, it's great, but it doesn't amplify sound. I have tried it with both a Mac and an iPad. It does not improve the sound at all, possibly making it a bit worse, with the exception of a light bass. Not to say it's quieter, but it just wasn't what I was looking for. I give it 3 stars, primarily for it's compact design.
