Disagree with Mr Speakes.
OK, first of all there are NO OTHER SPEAKERS YOU CAN BUY FOR A 50" PANASONIC PROFESSIONAL PLASMA! These are the only ones. If you dont like the option of hanging these underpowered speakers on the side of your tunerless plasma monitor, then you will be hooking this up to your home theater system and amp (which most people will do anyway). I had a 50" UK model...

GET OTHER SPEAKES
THE SPEAKES SOUND BAD, GET A BOSE SPEAKES OR OTHER BRAND. ONLY 8W EACH. SAVE YOUR MONEY. I GET THIS SPEAKES 1 YEAR AGO.

OK, first of all there are NO OTHER SPEAKERS YOU CAN BUY FOR A 50" PANASONIC PROFESSIONAL PLASMA! These are the only ones. If you dont like the option of hanging these underpowered speakers on the side of your tunerless plasma monitor, then you will be hooking this up to your home theater system and amp (which most people will do anyway).I had a 50" UK model attached to my HT system then traded up for a 58" and needed these speakers. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the sound reproduction, particularly the surround effect. Not bad if you need a stand alone option minus the amp. And I normally give Panasonic 5 stars for engineering but I have to deduct a point here for the crap speaker wire connection from the monitor to the speakers. They look to be about 36 gauge wires, very thin so they'll probably be replaced and the wires are wrapped around a ferrite coil which dangles in the back of the display. Very ugly, and requires a black 14" tiewrap (not provided) to pull this coil up out of the way and out of sight. The speaker assembly is simple and easy but you will find a magnetic phillips head will save you about 15 minutes and a lot of frustration. Sorry Mr Speakes, you am wrong!
