Jeremy Camp's Top 10 of 2008!,
By
This review is from: Speaking Louder Than Before (Audio CD)
Jeremy Camp has experienced the depth of God's mercy after losing his first wife Melissa to cancer. His debut album Stay featured songs expressing Jeremy's reliance on God including I Still Believe and Walk By Faith which hooked me immediately because they are so personal and biblical. Jeremy has gone on to become a best-selling artist with hit songs Take You Back, Let It Fade and Give You Glory and for me each album has improved on telling that personal faith journey that Jeremy is walking, particularly since marriage to his wife Adrienne, also an accomplished artist formerly in the band The Benjamin Gate and now solo with a great album of her own, Don't Wait by Adie.
Speaking Louder Than Before, Jeremy's newest album has a cohesiveness and maturity that I can hear in every song. The opener Slow Down Time has a Brit-Rock feel with a piano-driven intro and the theme is great in our fast-paced society. There Will Be A Day is one of the best songs Jeremy has ever recorded with these amazing lyrics: There will be a day with no more tears no more pain and no more fears, There will be a day when the burdens of this place will be no more, We'll see Jesus face to face, But until that day we'll hold on to you always. There's a great mix of uptempo songs such as Capture Me and the great title track and some reflective ballads including You Will Be There and the closing song Surrender. For me, this album is top 10 of 2008.

~softer than before - but still amazing~,

Jeremy Camp has come out with so many great albums over the past decade, that I have lost count by now! Although this one is in general a little softer than some of his classic music, i still totally love it. Most of the songs definitely seem to be more acoustic than some of his earlier albums - which have seemed to get toned down a little with each release. Personally I like it this way, but I know that some fans don't. There are no hard rockers here - but he still kicks it up on a few songs - especially the title track. The lyrics are still extremely strong on every track...Jeremy is so great at writing meaningful songs that are amazing!
He starts out the album with the powerful song "Slow Down Time", and ends with the soft tender ballad "Surrender" - which is one of my favorites on the CD. The title speaks for itself - we need to just surrender everything to our Lord. Extremely powerful worship lyrics in a very acoustic song. "My Fortress" is an awesome song that almost has a classic rock vive to it...very catchy too. You'll find yourself singing these songs long after the music ends!!! I highly recommend buying Jeremy's latest CD, just be prepared that there are no real hard rock type songs. There is a little bit for everyone on here though - so take a listen to a few tracks! Overall ~9/10~

Missed the mark,
This review is from: Speaking Louder Than Before (Audio CD)
I've been a Jeremy Camp fan for years, but there was something about this album that just didn't resonate with me. This happens sometimes with bands I've followed for years--there's nothing really terrible about the new album, but sooner or later they release one that just doesn't strike the same chord as the others. This is that album for me. While I've been able to loop his other albums nonstop, I can only listen to a song or two of this one before I switch albums.
Like I said, not a terrible album and I'm sure lots of other fans will gobble it up, but it missed the mark for me.

I want to just start out by saying I am a BIG Jeremy Camp fan. I love his prior two CDs (Beyond Measure and Restored). I have a lot of Jeremy's songs in my iPod. I run and weightlift to many of his prior rock-ish sounding songs from those CDs.
I was anxiously looking forward to this CD when it came out. Unfortunately, I am disappointed. I listened to it several times. This new CD does have a couple good songs: "Slow Down Time", "I'm Alive" and the title track. However, most of the songs on this album are soft and sound more like ballads rather than "Christan Rock" to me. I've heard that Jeremy's wife, Ade, is influencing his music more and more and this CD shows that. Unfortunately, this CD doesn't contain any hard, edgy-sounding "Christan Rock" songs like his prior CDs. :(

Very Good, But Not His Best,

For the record, I am a big Jeremy Camp fan. His albums 'Stay' and 'Restored' are among my favorites of all time. I have all of his other ones as well.
This album is more in the vein of 'Beyond Measure'. It is considerably mellower than his first two (and best) albums. Lyrically, this is excellent. All of the songs are Scripturally sound and give praise to Jesus Christ. It is undoubtedly just an individual taste thing, but I really prefer his music when it rocks a bit harder. In spite of that, this is a very good album. It is far better than most of the music out there today. My measured comments are just in comparison to Jeremy's own better stuff. One song on this is absolutely outstanding, 'There Will Be A Day'. Along with that, most of the others are at least very good. This is a worthwhile pickup. Any Jeremy Camp fan should like it. For those who do not already have most of his albums, I would recommend getting 'Stay' and 'Restored' first.

I think "Speaking Louder Than Before" is the best album of Jeremy Camp so far. All the songs that he wrote and sang in this album expresses how he loves Jesus and is passionate for Him. Whenever I listen to his songs, I get deeply touched. Usually, i don't write a review for the products that i have bought, but i'm writing one here because i want to recommend this album to everybody. It is worth 5 stars!!
