4.0 out of 5 stars Raise your voice, too!, July 13, 1999
This review is from: Speaking Out: Voices in Celebration of Intellectual Freedom (Paperback)
A gathering of voices well known in the library field and some -- like Pat Schroeder and Barney Frank -- known everywhere. Each contributor chose a quotation that offered courage, inspiration, or strength in the face of adversity, to keep the Word free, open, and accessible. It is interesting to note how often Thomas Jefferson and James Madison turn up, but the essayists quoted writers from Toni Morrison to Jimmy Walker, from Pogo to Audre Lorde, from Voltaire to Barbara Tuchman. As a contributor, I found my voice in a quote from Ursula K. Le Guin. Give this to your library board, to your Friends group, to your Teen Readers. Talk about it. Think about it.
