Book Description

The Hinothian Crystal Series November 6, 2006
Aaiden was raised to believe that magic existed and was to be respected, but also that he would probably never see any of it. He had been taught that the stories that crazy Pluritan told the village children—stories of Dragons, Dwarves and warrior women with angel wings—were just a product of a feeble old mind. A day came, though, when he showed the entire village that he had powerful magic of his own, much to his surprise. This revelation sends him away from the only home he had ever known, with a person he does not fully know or trust, to learn how to control it. With the discovery of his magic there comes danger and death. The young wizard will have to follow the path his dreams lay before him and search out the magical creatures that before had only existed in the imagination of a very old man.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy at it's best, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Speaking with Shugaan: Book One of the Hinothian Crystal Series (Paperback)
Jennifer has opened the reader's eyes to a beautiful world full of mystery. This novel is so lavishly detailed that you will feel as if you've been transported to the world of Hinothia. Miller's ability to be incredibly descriptive without over describing things is something that many authors struggle to achieve.
Her writing style will captivate anyone fortunate enough to read this novel. Her strong, poetic voice will pilot you through the pages. Though this book is not my usual cup of tea I would recommend it highly to fans of Harry Potter, The Dragon Riders of Perth or Lord of the Rings fans.
The only draw back to the novel are its long chapters, but the only reason that is a draw back at all is because you will not want to sit it down! Prepare yourself for a very long day of reading before you step into the mystical world of Speaking with Shugaan.
