4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, January 3, 2010
This review is from: John Adams Speaks for Freedom (Stories of Famous Americans) (Paperback)
The reading level is on the easy side of level 3, in my opinion. This is good for *some* background on Adams, but it does not cover his eloquence or genius. For those traits, Jefferson gets all the glory (which is not untypical.)

Nice information on Abigail.

Good illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reader!, April 3, 2008
This review is from: John Adams Speaks for Freedom (Stories of Famous Americans) (Paperback)
My second grade son and I have enjoyed reading this and the other Stories of Famous Americans. We are studying early American History and I really enjoy offering him readers with historical content. He enjoyed this story so much, he has decided to pursue a law degree and become a politician himself(for this week!). I love books that encourage him to reach for the stars.

This review is from: John Adams Speaks for Freedom (Stories of Famous Americans) (Paperback)
A few years ago we mada trip to the Washington Mall and the Smithsonian at the same time we were going to war in Iraq. The mood of the crowd was very somber. The grandness of the Mall somehow seemed even grander. If you can't afford a trip to the Mall, at least you can expose yourself to one of our nation's greatest heroes. We thought at the time that every soldier should get a chance to visit the Washington Monument before going off to fight. We also think that every schoolboy should read a little of out nation's greatest leaders before we send them off to vote at age 18.
