Take 2 Interactive is a solid company with a list of quality games.... I have most of them and the best is Spec Ops. OK. Although this game is not as good as Metal Gear Solid, or as realistic as Rainbow Six(PC version), it still packs some bang for the buck. The graphics are not the worst(that honor goes to Dark Forces). The sound is OK, but nothing to write mom about. The control is tricky at first, but when mastered, you'll be shootin' and movin' like a pro. Now my gripes. Even...

Take 2 Interactive is a solid company with a list of quality games.... I have most of them and the best is Spec Ops. At first I was a bit put off by the difficulty of the game, but with practice and a little experimentation this has become one of my top ten favorites. One thing to keep in mind is th[e price], so it's not going to be the greatest game ever. As far as realism, playability, and replay value go, it's a top notch simulator. The enemy AI is excellent and weapons selection is superb. The battle environments are interactive and big, which is good for those of you who like to explore. For those of you having trouble, you have to play around with team member weapons combinations for each mission until you find something that works for you. If in doubt, go for two M60s and mow everything down! I personally like to use a sniper/ heavy gunner combo. Yes, this game is difficult, but that means you won't finish it in 8 hours like too many games out there. This is an excellent purchase, I would buy any game from Take 2.

Even though you have a great selection when it comes to guns and gear, all of the weapons perform pretty much the same. Believe me, a .50 Barrett sniper rifle has more range and knockdown power than a scoped M4 carbine! In the Vietnam level, you can choose the same weapons and equipment that you can in "modern day" levels. I'm POSITIVE we did not have AN-PVS5 night vision goggles and HK MP5SD sub-guns in Vietnam. And lastly, difficulty. This is a HARD game. So much so, it is impossible to tell a difference between the three levels of challenge. But all-in-all, the ability to command two Army Rangers in hit and run raids using light infantry/special operations tactics is this game's strongest point. So, if you want a fun and challenging game, and don't want to blow alot of money, check this one out.

Impossible game. Lets see you finish the first level on the hardest difficulty. Even on the easiest difficulty, it would probably take you a long time to finish the first level.

The graphics are average. Nothing spectacular here.(6/10)

The sound is pretty good. Nice sounds from the environment. Talking to buddy(orders)is pretty cool. Music blends in nicely to sometimes scare you. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. (8/10)

Gameplay: Great, terrific, varied, USELESS! Come on. You hit the floor and do anything you can, but you end up dead(at least on the harder difficulty).(7/10)

Value: It's worth the price. Nice multiplayer co-op mode. 3 difficulties(it seems like they are all qualified as impossible) (8/10)

Presentation: Nice menu's. (7/10)

Overall: Buy this game if you like army games. ................. (7.2/10)

Oh for the love of god, dont be cheap, go buy Medal ofHonor..heck, you can get Metal Gear Solid for cheap now!

I'mashamed to of ever put this in my Playstation..the graphics are poor..the gameplay's slow and lacks the action the game promises..the music sounds like a MIDI..The fact the game's cheap dosent have anything to do with the quality, all playstation games are going to end up like this shortly, the programmers just took a very, very...very wrong turn somewhere with this one. Somehow I doubt the Dreamcast version will be any better.

I don't want to diss anyone who likes this game, but I can't really see much good in this game. The graphics are not really anything speical. It seems almost impossible to see the enemy and you find your self being shot and you can't see the enemy until you've had a major loss of life. The control is rather overly complicated and isn't exactly user freindly. The sound is okay, but it seems to make you a little tence. The game is near impossible even on easy difficultys. I have owned the game for quite a long time and still haven't beaten the first level by myself. The missons seem a bit vague and you think "okay... what the heck do I do now?" too often. When I play this, I can't help but get frustrated and it always feels like the game's fault..... Even if you are in to army stuff, you might want to rent this first. If this is your kind of thing, I recomend Medal of Honor: Underground or Syphon Filter.

2.0 out of 5 stars [Weak]!, August 27, 2002

I love war type games, and when my brother bought this, I thought it was going to be great. I guess I was expecting a bit much, maybe a lot much. The game's graphics are putrid. awful sounds, and [weak] gameplay. No good plots either. Enemies have the strangest ability of shooting through trees and small hills at you, but you can't shoot them. It took two days to finish it. It was the worst I have played.

The upside - . . .Wait, what upside?

The downside - About everything. If you are thinking of buying the game, do yourself a favor and rent it first. You might just kick yourself about it later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game, August 2, 2003

This review is from: Spec Ops: Stealth Patrol (Video Game)
This game was pretty easy, although it did take me a month and a half to beat it though. The good things about the game is the two player. Another good thing is the variety of weapons and items you can choose from. Plus the night vision goggles are pretty good, and the map was pretty easy to read. Now to the bad things. The graphics are horrible. You move around so weird, and when you shoot an enemy you don't even have to be close. As long as your a few feet from them. Enemy AI was horrible. When they shot at you they didn't even move. I recommend you rent this game first, and then if you like it then buy it.

I am a ps2 user, but bought this gem back when I had a ps1. The game is exceptionally hard in one player mode as you have two charcters who you have to toggle between. The game is both strategic and action oriented. You can blast the enemy with your machine gunner or use the sniper to pick them off from a distance. The game takes some effort to learn, but is well worth it. One of the nice features on two player is that if your partner dies, the screen becomes full-screen for the remaining player. GREAT GAME FOR ONE OR TWO PLAYERS!

This is one of the worst five games for Playstation of alltime! Do not buy it! I bought it and ended up bringing it back, telling them it was so terrible, and they new what I was talking about! If you are considering buying this game, DON'T! Even though it is cheap, it is still not worth it! Go buy something a little more fun, like colored rocks.

I found this game earlier than it was supposed to be released, but it's a fun game if you are into military/action style gaming. For it's price, you can't lose. I thought that it wouldn't be a very good game, but I underestimated it. Great quality for it's price. I only have one complaint, it's very difficult and frustrating. So if you want a fun game that won't empty your wallet, this is it.
