Analogue synth/pop w/ an addictive voice,
By Charlie Quaker "The Quaker Goes Deaf" (Normal, IL.) - See all my reviews

Debut release from Toronto's John O'Regan, who has one of those rich & resonating baritone
voices that pulls you into the song. These are mostly old school 80s style analogue/drum machine synth/pop songs, delivered with a disarmingly simple & charming romanticism. Reminiscent of Gary Numan, Human League, David Bowie, Roderick Falconer.

Pop synth done to perfection. Diamond Rings is eccentric in his appearance but his lyrics and sound are stable, haunting and enigmatic. The album from track one to track ten is superb. The strongest song for me is "It's Not My Party" with a lyrical pitch that hits home with any listener.
Get this album you won't regret it.

This album is perfect in every way. The songs are simple yet unique, melodic, heartfelt, basically everything you would want from an album. Diamond Rings' beautiful voice will captivate you from beginning to end.

Diamond Rings - Special Affections,

My expectations for this were as follows: Yeah, "All Yr Songs" is the cat's pajamas. Put it in the middle of nine other similar songs and you've got something I'd probably enjoy. What I received was: Depth (with a capital D), complexity, sincerity. I did not expect songs like "Wait & See" and "It's Not My Party" (both of which are on my Top 25 Most Played in iTunes). "All Yr Songs" is the exception, not the norm. My highest recommendation.

It's pretty rare for me to like every single song on an album--but I'll make an exception with "Special Affections" by Diamond Rings. What a talent! Each song is incredibly catchy and the lyrics though simple are pretty deep. Combine that with John O'Regan's stellar voice and we have a winner.

I like his music and his voice and his melodies rock in a synth pop way..I'm so sick of the trendy beards that everyone has ..Its a lazy lame fad and i will be glad when its over..Whats up with everyone looking like one of the KKK without the hoods..Its simply boring .Lets get some rebel style and individualism back in rock!Great album Diamond Rings

What impresses me is that some one claiming some connections with music, as a musician, composer, producer, you name it, can dare singing with such a voice. Is he deaf, insane, or what? He is not far from being laughed at Am. Idol type of audition. Anyway, whatever good was in the compositions and music, was utterly destroyed with that deep `singing' that can be withstood only with the greatest of efforts. So much easier to just forget you ever purchased that cd.
