5.0 out of 5 stars For Medal of Honor Warriors - Known and unknown, February 11, 2009
This review is from: Special Forces Afghanistan: Direct Action (Paperback)

Inspired by the actions of Operational Detachment Alpha - 555, informally known as Triple Nickel, Peter Telep's new series dramatizes the missions of our Special Forces Afghanistan.

When the president of Afghanistan's life is endangered and al-Qaeda-backed militia close in to finish the job, ODA-555 commander Captain James Pharaoh and his team is sent into the brawl.

With limited supplies, the formidable Hindu Kush Mountains rising between them and their objective, and running out of time, Pharaoh splits his team into two lethal components-one a deadly interdiction force, the other a politically-charged rescue team.

But the mission is far from straightforward. A CIA agent with his own agenda could derail this mission in a New York minute. Then the liberal press and the founder of War Crimes in Afghanistan learn about the mission and force themselves into the fray.

In the end, the mission requires that a lone individual step forward and carry out an exquisite act of bravery.

2.0 out of 5 stars boring and unrealistic, December 24, 2008

I have only read about half of this book, and doubt that I will finish it----which is rare for me. Strikes me as a "totally made up" type story, in contrast to the other military books (see Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell) I have read about Afghanistan. Also, is rather boring, as if it is written for teenage readers with visons of grandeur rather than real world. A disappointment.
