WOW!, August 7, 2005
This review is from: Special Forces Guerrilla Warfare Manual (Paperback)
I bought this book counting on it being an entertaining read, and to study tactics but not expecting this much information. This book covers all crucial aspects of launching a successful insurgency. It will take you from the beginning planning stages to overthrowing an oppressive regime. I am now up to page 75 in this book, and so far I have read details on how to plan your operation, intelligence gathering, getting the locals on your side, direct and indirect support, engaging in fires, mobility, establishing an OP and LP, and assaults on enemy positions. If you want to wage a war, this book is for you. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
This book has more than enough information to get you started on the path to having a successful insurgent operation. Note that no matter how much you study the topic of waging an unconventional war, it is nothing like actual experience. I would rate this book VERY HIGH on the "Must Read" list for anyone even remotely interested in small unit operations. If I had to give an on line abbreviation for this book, it would be this: T.M.I.

Hitting the nail right on the head., November 23, 2007
This review is from: Special Forces Guerrilla Warfare Manual (Paperback)
This is an exceptional book on the subject of guerrilla warfare, unlike Guevara's "guerrilla warfare" this book actually covers tactics in great detail with good drawings showing how to conduct an ambush or break out of an encirclement.
As someone who has an interest in radio, I found it interesting that this book touches on the subject of using packet radio to send messages which is something not mentioned in any other book on the subject. However it does not go into any depth on the subject but anyone with knowledge on radio systems shouldn't have any trouble combining a pc, vhf radio, pgp encryption and appropriate software together to create a relatively secure system.

WOW!, February 25, 2001
This review is from: Special Forces Guerrilla Warfare Manual (Paperback)
Wow... this book is DEFINITELY for Academic study ONLY! This book DETAILS the U.S. Army's Special Force's ability to Train, Organize and Equip Rag tag people into a fighting unit, double quick time. Unlike many "manuals" this one not only covers Small unit tactics and training, but also covers setting up intelligence, conducting Psy-ops and then organizing a working political system. This is important to long term success, since it saves you from having to re-fight the same battles over and over. The book walks you through the staging and completion of the first acts of Rebellion all the way up to "Overthrow". It'll definitely point you in directions for further research!
