The "special gift" is this book and the entire series of Cobble Street Cousins. I am the proud mother of four lovely daughters and what a pleasure to find such a sweetly written book. I have recommended this book to friends with daughters and they have loved it as well. It is hard to find a morally appropriate, light, non-violent book for young girls. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is the type of book all little girls should grow up on.

Cynthia Rylant's stories about these three little cousins are always cute, sweet and great reading for early elementary readers. I am always looking for nice stories that I like but will also interest my daughter. These little stories solve that problem.

My eight year old daughter read it in one sitting. She said it was a great book and so fun to read. Highly recommended.

I too am a parent of 4 wonderful daughters and I am delighted by this series. The stories are simple but engaging, and the characters are thoughtful and charming. My girls love these books! Highly recommended, especially for girls ages 5 to 8/9.
