Well Organized, but already dated,

This book came out just as the final version of NT Option Pack was released. It shows. Some of the screen shots are from Beta 3 of IIS 4 which is problematic given that the product changed between Beta 3 and final release. Wait for the Microsoft book if you can.

This book is not orgainzed properly. Secondly it is an overview of IIS 4.0, might be good for beginners but doesn't cover the details. As others have already pointed out that it assumes the Beta version of IIS. It tells about the programming details which is not appropriate while discussing IIS installation. Waste of money as far as I am concerned.

This book is the worst book from QUE. I lost $50. Don't buy this book because contains so many errors. Really is an ALPHA book. For who is this book? Admninistrators? Programmers? The book has many chapters dedicated to completely isolated topics, dedicating very little space to each topic. For example, the author dedicate 20 pages for Internet Mail Server including installing, configuring, structure of the message, how mail works, understanding SMTP, etc. All in only 20 pages!!! Obviusly, you don't learn anything. In addition you see so many errors. For example, the text reference a graphic that contains other topic!!! Again, don't throw away your money

Too general - no specific information,

This book contains helpful information about setting up IIS4 and it's many components, but doesn't spend enough time talking about IIS4 administration and support. If that's what you're looking for, don't buy this book.

Good basic reference, but a bit dated,

As with all of the IIS 4 books I have looked at, this one is a bit behind the times. In most areas, this is not too much of a sticking point, but there are some differences between the book's illustrations and text and the final version of NT Option Pack 4.Bad news aside, this book is well organized and has a lot of step-by-step instructions for guiding yourself through setup and use of IIS 4. Compared to the competition to date (Feb 1998), this is the book to buy. This will change as soon as a newer book is released that uses the final shipping version of the option pack. It's not perfect, but you can do far worse.

A high level technical reference book,

Although this appears to be one of the better books on IIS 4.0, much of the information in this book was taken from Beta 1/2, and has been outdated.. I was looking for step-by-step direction on how to use IIS 4.0, but this book offers more of a general guild-line of how to go about things. If money isn't not an issue, having this book is better than nothing. If it is, then you may want to wait for another book that's based on the final release of IIS 4.0.
