This special Millennium Princess Edition Barbie wears a large tiara with a matching silver choker, twinkling ear studs, and a ring on her right finger. Her blue and silver gown (complete with matching blue heels) has a flowing velvet skirt that features a silver lace front panel and an accentuated waistline. Its sleeves are puffed and gathered with silver-braided trim. The bodice is fitted, and the shawl neckline is made of raised, silver chiffon. The gown is removable--thanks to a Velcro back panel--so you can dress her in something else after January 1. A clear (plastic) ornament she carries has a ribbon saying "Happy New Year 2000" and can be placed on a Christmas tree, key ring, doorknob, or desk. Two things make Millennium Barbie a collectible: the keepsake bauble and the fact that she represents the aspirations of two cultures, not just one, as she strides into the next 1,000 years. I put off buying one of these dolls before Christmas. Then next thing I knew they were all sold out and looked like I missed my chance. Until I found this one for sale on Amazon. Which by the way happened to arrive right on my birthday so it was a special treat!

I have to say this doll is even more amazing to see in person! Mattel really outdid themselves on the design of this doll. The first thing that catches your eye is her dress, on the computer screen I thought the doll's dress was a blue color, but seeing it for myself it has this wonderful royal purple color to it, my favorite color, so that was even better!

Another thing is, it's been years since I have bought a Barbie doll, but last time I did, the African-American dolls seem to have more of a regular Barbie doll with a dark tan look to them. But they really did a nice job in sculpting this doll to give her a real ethnic appearance, she has a very pretty face.

This is a wonderful doll to get for someone, or yourself, if you're looking for something to commemorate the Millennium, which is the only one anyone alive now will ever see, I think getting this doll is one of the best ways!

The African-American Millennium Barbie Doll is a fine addition to my growing doll collection. Many of my friends(young and old) are fascinated with the variety of African-American Barbie dolls I am able to collect from Mattel. Their features are more realistic than in earlier years, and the gowns are outstanding.

I have been looking for this doll since it came out a few years ago. When I opened the shipping box and saw how beautiful this doll is and how it enhances my collection of barbie dolls, I was overjoyed with delight about my purchase.
