Book Description

March 17, 2006
This highly-illustrated guide covers the full experience of special operations training from every possible angle. First-hand expert Mullin dissects the key components of special ops training and the variables which come into play when perfecting technique - from reducing ammo loading times to identifying weaknesses in an enemy's kit. His analysis, infused with personal anecdotes, takes in the full spectrum of military operations, including maritime missions, and the rural vs. urban battlefield. There is also considerable information on non-firearm usage, such as specialized armor and ammunition. Written in Mullin's unique style, the narrative sees legal and political viewpoints meet head-on with personal experience and anecdote. The text is heavily illustrated with nearly two hundred images of weapons and training, and promises to be an enlightening and valuable guide to the evolution of Special Forces throughout the last century, and into this one.

This review is from: Special Operations Weapons and Tactics (Hardcover)
I'm a fan of Mullins.I found Testing the war weapons to be a great book, full of subtle information and a fun read. The 100 Greatest combat pistols is awsome, just an excellent book.
Special operations weapons and tactics follows these classics in the same vein.
Not as specific as some of his other work.Special operations, weapons and tactics, is a book that gives the reader insights (something that is a trademark of Mullins) and information not commonly found in other books on firearms and tactics.
Mullin takes the reader through various chapters that range from firearms selection for various encounters to how to analyze the opponent from personal items and the number of loaded magazines they carry.
Not a book on self appointed guru egomania, this book reflects on experiences that come from all types of military and LE operators. The resulting conclusions that follow give the reader the benefit of the lessons learned.
Mr.Mullin goes over the situations that seperate the LE from the military operator and the situations that parallel the different sciences as well.He uses these comparisons to highlight different weapons and the need and use...or not,as it pertains to both of them.
The book itself is very well constructed, hardback, with glossy pages and black and white photographs that compliment the chapters.
I believe this to be really quite a lot of book in a modest package.Granted, it does touch on subjects, and doesnt really go into a great deal of detail.Still, the reader will find this book an exceptional find and a welcome addition to the tactical library.
