There is such a variety of musical styles on "That Special Time of Year" by Gladys Knight & the Pips that it jump starts the ol' Holiday spirit with one listen - it's all here.

THE HAPPIEST TIME OF THE YEAR is a lush, dramatic Christmas ballad.

The title track and JINGLE BELLS are so upbeat they almost require a spinning mirrored ball.

Their cover of THIS CHRISTMAS has been my favorite for years...and this song has been covered by over a dozen top artists.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN is a fun cut for the kids and the kid in us all.

Also covered by other top artists is WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEW YEARS EVE. Gladys Knight gives an outstanding performance and The Pips keep up with her every step of the way.

THE LORD'S PRAYER" and "WHEN A CHILD IS BORN are both duets featuring Johnny Mathis and are both beautiful performances.

For year-round enjoyment, this disc features two amazing recordings that will inspire and lift spirits during any season, I BELIEVE and LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH (And Let It Begin With Me). Soft, sweet and yet powerful.

I have this on an album. It must be over 40 years old.I've been playing it,but this year I decided to enjoy it on a CD.My favorite selection is The Lord's Prayer with Johnny Mathis.

"That Special Time of Year" has touched the hearts of many. I am an elementary teacher and a liturgical dancer. I am always searching for music that gives a message. This is one of my favorite holiday albums. I, had it on cassett tape, and look for it for many years on CD. It will be a supreme joy to have this back into my collection for the up coming holiday's.

I had the LP version of this album for years and finaally got around to getting it on CD. The CD has a different cover. Gladys & The Pips were NOT on the original album cover. It's just 10 songs but what diversity. That Special Time of Year, Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is Coming To Town will make you want to get up and boogie. The latter features one of Gladys' kids, Shenga, who's now fully grown since that album came out in 1982. This Christmas sounds smooth and soulful. What Are You Doing New Year's Eve and Let There Be Peace on Earth are wonderful ballads beatifully sung.

Gladys gets a solo number with It's The Happiest Time of the Year. She teams up with Johnny Mathis for two songs, When A Child is Born and The Lord's Prayer. I know Johnny did both of these as a solo. I'm not sure if he actually rerecorded these with Gladys in the studio or if they just dubbed in Gladys' voice with his in a mixing session. I Believe is the final song in this collection.

A nice CD with songs that will make you tap your feet and snap your fingers.

This is one of my favorite Gladys Knight CDs. I had it as a cassette years ago and it finally wore out so I was quite excited to find it again. It is the only place I've been able to find the fabulous "When a child is born" duet with Johnny Mathis. It is a masterpiece and will become a family favorite!

I purchased this entire CD for one song. I love Let There be Peace on Earth. I couldn't find the single so I had to purchase it this way. I don't care because now I have this beautiful song to listen to each holiday season.

Gladys Knight does an amazing job with the song, "Let There be Peace on Earth"! Simply amazing! It can make you cry when you hear it. A must have at Christmas. I only purchased this CD to get that one song.
