Fifteen year old Mike Blandest is with his parents at the lake cabin on July 4th. When the Lester family moves in next door, Mike's life is turned upside down by the Lester children -- or more aptly by Diane Lester who is almost 3 years younger than Mike. Almost upon meeting, Diane begins to flirt with Mike, who initially resists, but is soon caught up in her flirt game.
A friend warns him against girls so young, but becomes an unwitting adviser. Armed with a grudge, an adviser, and a spy, Mike plays along. But within days, Mike is overcome by an onslaught of unfamiliar emotions and develops a crush on Diane; a crush which deepens over time.
