3.0 out of 5 stars The thick books are not always better, May 5, 1998

This book did not help me when I really needed it. It is for beginners, and not to be used as a reference in a real work environment. Most of the information is incorrect. Check out The Administrator's Guide by Kevin Cox and William Jones. It's a slim book to carry around and it does not cost as much.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent book for folks that understand SQL already, December 2, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Special Edition Using Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
Some of the samples are outright incorrect, but the discussions of how to do things are solid. Seems to cover all the bases without being so basic and plodding it gets boring.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of time, June 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Special Edition Using Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
The formatting of the book is lousy. There are many errors in the examples given. The book is written in parts as if you know nothing about database theory or SQL and other parts take an assumption that you are an expert and only have the book for a quick reference. There is too much cross references in the book to be a useful.
