5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource!
After 20 years in the HR/PR world and 11 years in Consulting, I can recommend this book as an excellent resource. As a consultant I almost wish they didn't tell so many of our secrets!

3.0 out of 5 stars No Information on Projects!
This book is pretty good overall but it left out any useful information on Oracle Project Accounting. All the other financial modules (GL, AR, AP, etc.) had entire chapters dedicated to them but NOTHING FOR PROJECTS. This ommission is a huge disappointment given the fact that PA is so complex and not widely known in the consulting field like the other modules.

The Human Resources and Payroll sections are insighful, accurate and show a lot of indepth product and implementation knowledge. Implementing the HR/PR products are really more of an art than a science, and these guys clearly have "been there".

Thanks for a great product folks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete Product information, July 4, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Special Edition Using Oracle Applications (Hardcover)
It would be helpful for customers if you specified which version of Oracle Applications this book is written for. Same applies to used books too. It is essential to know the versions for software books as we don't want to buy obsolete books.
Thanks for noting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh oh! No published date information available, September 10, 2004
By
This review is from: Special Edition Using Oracle Applications (Hardcover)
I recently ordered this special edition used book and it arrived within 1 week and in good condition. I am very happy with the prompt service. However, I was dissapointed that the book was of year 2000 publication. As the book I bought was linked to the main latest edition book on this site and with no information to the contrary, I was expecting the latest edition book. It is suggested that it should be mandatory for every book appearing on this site, specially the IT books and software to carry the edition and published year information. We must be allowed to make informed decision.

In the virtual world of internet we cannot examine for ourselevs and have to depend on whatever information is provided. And sometimes we have to learn the hard way. I will never again buy a used IT book unless it states its details clearly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not much info, May 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Special Edition Using Oracle Applications (Hardcover)
This book failed to explain both Functional and Technical design concepts of Oracle Applications' , rather tried to explain the set up options like an implementation manual.
as per my opinion ,If you are looking for a conceptual knowledge about the various modules then this is not the right one.
It neither explains waht are the jey tables and how they interact nor explains a process flow.
Nothing mentioned about the technical details .
More over it discusses lot of superflusious thngs like consultants life style and what to look in a good consultant and all that ..
For me its money and time waste and a big dis appointment .

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good reference book for Oracle Applications, August 28, 2000
This review is from: Special Edition Using Oracle Applications (Hardcover)
I like this book, it is helpfull for both Oracle Applications users and functional consultants. It is also very helpfull to non Oracle Applications consultants to start effeciently in understanding and supporting Oracle Applications. I read all the common chapters and some of specific modules chapters. It was usefull for me, thanks to the Authors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good it appeared at last.. Public is waiting for book of th, March 25, 1999
This review is from: Special Edition Using Oracle Applications (Hardcover)
Implementing Oracle applications is challenging due to many complexities involved. A methodical approach and expert insight provided by books of this kind can build and increase confidence in the management, professionals and end-users involved in such ERP implementations. We are still to see the extent and depth of coverage this book provides to induce such confidence. I am sure we have many experts and their rich experience to learn pros and cons of implementations. Most of the suggestions can apply even for non-oracle ERP solutions.

Could potentially become a good book. I just hope that this book reaches production as promised. I have given up on the Oracle Financials Handbook by Oracle Press.
