I purchased the catalogue for the purpose of valuing my Plate Block stamp collection. Prior to obtaining the catalogue, I had arranged the stamps in Scott's assigned numbers. I was able to do this from the 1966 version of the catalogue I already had and using Excell to sort the items numerically. I had over 350 plate blocks to value.

I was able to ensure I was valuing the right stamps because there are pictures of each stamp. The process went very quickly. The book is still in pristine condition and I plan to re-sell it. I am also going to sell the plate block collection and the 1966 version. I would recommend this catalogue over any other stamp catalogue on the market. Scott's is recognized as the standard.

It is absolutely the best way to value a stamp and now that it is in color, it is very easy to quickly locate a stamp.

The Scott 2007 US Specialized Catalogue is a definitive reference tool for US philately. It offers, for the interested collector or dealer, not only basic information on grading stamps, but detailed information on identifying them. Historical information & valuation tools are also a significant part of the catalogue. Did I mention the great buy on this item that Amazon offers? Thank you.

Exactly what I ordered at a price that can't be beat by anyone else.

If you are a general collector this remains the benchmark book for US stamp issues.The prices and descriptions are comprehensive, and the tips on identification (and the inclusion of 4-color photographs of many stamps) are useful. If you are an advanced collector or an investor you do, however, need to also acquire the valuing guide that provides pricing for stamps of varying grades.

I am in the process of trying to catalog a stamp collection that belonged to both my late husband and my father. I ordered this older addition to get stamp numbers and some idea of what the collection might be worth.
The seller was effecient and the catalogue arrived within 5 day in excellent shape.

This catalogue is everything you would expect from the authority in stamps. The illustrations are top notch and the information is best.

Great pictures in Color of the stamps. Had the series that I was looking for and the reason I bought the book.

This book is a must for the serious stamp collector. The color representations are excellent and the reference information is more than helpful. The only limitation is that it has is no index similar to that found in the "Guide to U.S. Stamps". However, I imagine that it would be too difficult to create with the vast amount of information there is. Overall I am very happy with the "Specialized Catalogue" and will continue to purchase it yearly.

The 2007 Specialized Catalogue has a couple of minor flaws that prevent it from getting a perfect score.

First, die cut information is incorrect for some self-adhesive postage issues. The difference between the listed information and the actual die cut measurements is generally not great, but one might expect more from a specialized catalogue.

Second, the columns on the first page of listings of proprietary stamps are not lined up correctly, making it difficult to determine the values of listed items. That issue, however, is one that will not impact most collectors.

Overall, the 2007 Specialized Catalogue is nicely done, and despite the aforementioned problems it is indispensable for any collector of U.S. postage or revenue stamps.
