Tools are like anything else...,

This review is from: Specialty Products 4-way Ball Joint Separator - 37985
...You really need to know how to use them and if they'll really do what you need them to. I bought this tool to use on my Porsche 996TT in swapping out some control arms. Unfortunately the tool will not work for this application. Although it was money spent on something I didn't use, it ends up in my tool chest with other tools I may one day use... Who knows, it might just work in that application...

This review is from: Specialty Products 4-way Ball Joint Separator - 37985
The pictured product is absolutely positively NOT a Specialty Products 4-way ball-joint separator 37985. Therefore, you have no idea of what you are going to get -- the item pictured, the item described, or something else entirely. The item pictured is actually a ball joint press, which is a completely different type of tool intended to install/remove ball joints from the control arm; a ball-joint SEPARATOR is meant to get the spindle popped off the ball-joint pin/bolt, so you can then use the tool in the picture to remove the ball joint from the control arm. The product that matches the written description (and part number) is a lever-action sort of tool, and doesn't even look similar to the C-clamp style design of the ball-joint press that is in the picture. Do a web search for the item, and you will see that I'm right. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS VENDOR, as he (she?) is either (1) willing to deceive you to make a sale or (2) has absolutely no idea of what he is doing or (3) both. Find an honest vendor, and buy from him.
