What can I say, I was thrilled to open the packaging right away.
A little annoying to have to clean the inside of the plastic with the supplied orange cloth, that was supposed to be lint free. Actually put little orange lint balls on the inside of the case, but I worked it out.

In any case, when this case is new, and fresh on your MacBook Pro, it make everything look insanely cool. Not cheap looking at all. Well designed micro snaps fall right into place, and removing and covering the laptop is childsplay. It does scratch fairly easy, but then its clear plastic, and thats its job.

If I could make a case, Id use a bit tougher mix of plastics but pay no attention to me. Im being way to critical. This case is great looking, and Id reccomend it to anyone who wants not only a protective case, but to make their Macbook actually look better than it did out of the box. Is that possible? Yep .. with the Speck case on it, it just looks awesome.

Mailed quickly from Amazon, with free shipping, too. A snap to put on (literally). Keeps my MacBookPro 17" clean. Top and bottom snap on seperately, so you could just use the bottom and no one would notice the slightest difference. I took off my top just now to inspect it and measure the added thickness to the case. The Mac top is absolutely pristine. Although I saw no discernable scratches on the plastic case, when I held it up to the light I could see lots of fine scratches and marks that would have been building up on my Mac had I not been using the cover.
Regarding the added thickness, I estimate the clear case adds no more than 1/8th of an inch, for an additional total of about 1/4 an inch extra girth all around. The clear case also allows you the option of placing a favorite photo slipped underneath between the Mac and the case. I keep a montage of small photos there, including one of myself with contact information in case someone finds it and/or wishes to collect a reward.
Another thing I like about using the clear case is that it feels a little less slippery in my fingers when I handle the laptop, and I hope that it adds a little more protection against spills, bumps, and knocks.

I decided to get one of these after I started noticing a slow build-up of scratches on my new beloved MacBook Pro. So I got one of these see thru crystal cases. It installed in an instant and I've had no problems.

It does add a little more bulk and weight to the machine, but given that I have a 17" model, it's already big. A few more ounces aren't that big a deal. I kind of like the new thickness of the macbook now. I feel less like it's likely to slip out of my hands when holding it. And I like the built in rubber feet the case comes with - as I was starting to have trouble keeping the macbook's rubber feet attached to the bottom.

I thought the product was a tad expensive. The full retail prices is ridiculous! But I'm happy enough with my amazon price. I wish it came in colors. I would have preferred black or light blue.

Oh and one added benefit I realized once I put in my new case -- I can now attach stickers to the back without having to gum up the back of the machine itself. Cool.

Two complaiints:
1. Dust and even MOLD does form under the shields, so they have to be taken off to clean regularly; otherwise your finish will definitely be damaged.
2. These are not sturdily built. The plastic tabs are the first to break, and in less than a year, there are cracks, splits and eventually it is useless. I suppose for $40 per year it protects the soft aluminum body of the macbook pro (another issue altogether). Just dont expect longevity from this product.

While the product provides a good level of protection for my mac, it is a very poor design for three reasons. First, the top case covering the screen portion of the laptop easily comes off when I open the laptop. When the laptop is closed and i reach into the gap between the layers, the shell easily pops off. Second, while the top case fits generally tight to the screen (other than the opening pop off issue above), it sucks a lot of dust and debris in it. I have to pop it off almost daily to clean it out; very annoying. Third, and perhaps most annoyingly, the case obstructs the power plug connection. The magnetic plug can be snapped on in two configurations - with the cord aiming toward you or away from you. With the case on, it can only go on in the cord facing you configuration. Also annoying

I think I said it all in my title. Took it out of the box, cleaned it up with the little orange cloth it came with and it snapped right onto my aluminum macbook pro (17"). It gives my mac a nice shiny look! Furthermore I worry much less about dings, scratches, sticky stuff, and dirt as I carry it around and plop it on random tables and desks.

The one thing you will notice is that it adds a small but noticeable bit of weight to the laptop as you carry it. Not too big of a deal but it's something to think about it you carry your mac on a shoulder-strap bag for long periods of time.

I take my laptop everywhere I go: business travels, kid's activities, work/home, the park, etc. Although I'm careful during transport and set up, I invariably get nicks and scratches on my laptop. The Speck Case has been great. The nicks and scratches that would have been on my laptop are now on the case itself. I bought the clear version, so the nicks and scratches are easily seen. After awhile, I'm sure the case would look dull. But, isn't that what a case is for?

The top is separate from the bottom so installation is easy and convenient. Having the top as a separate piece allows me to remove only the top case to insert either artwork or some sort of identifier under the case when I install it again--very handy when I go to long meetings and want to quickly identify my laptop or quickly identifying my laptop once it's gone through security at the airport.

Great product with a perfect fit and finish for the Mac. This product is classy without being overly flashy. It provides a clean polished, professional look, and fits like a glove. The hard shell enclosure gives you the confidence to pick it up and put it down without ruining the finish on the MacBook case or causing scratches. It is also very easy to put on, and take off. One advantage of the precise fit is that if you have a soft sleeve that you want to carry your Mac around in, it will fit because the speck cover only adds about 1/4" to your Mac. This additional protection with a laptop case, and your MacBook will be almost impervious to the dangerous elements of the outside world. Now, if I could only find a quality product to protect the keyboard against liquids...

Yeah, these covers are pricey, but so are MacBooks and these heavy plastic covers are well crafted and "snap on" to fit incredible well. They give the aluminum bodied laptops some substantial protection. We're a MacBook Pro family and all of our are covered with these crystal cases. Highly recommend.

I really like this clear case, but it doesn't completely fit the new MagSafe power adapter the 2010 MacBook Pro has. To have it fit perfectly, you have to turn it around and attach it facing the front of the laptop instead of the back. Other than that, it's pretty good. I've had it a few weeks now, and it has protected my MacBook Pro pretty well. I took it off a couple of times to clean some dust that somehow got underneath it, and laptop still looks like I just bought it. Not bad.
