It looks great, holds the iPad securely, and is very well made.
JefferyW
The plastic backing snaps easily in and out, and the fit is snug enough that the iPad 2 does not slide around.
SH
After less than 2 months of light use the bungee strap that holds this case shut has come unsewen.

After having the smartcase I decided I needed a case with more versitily and protection. The following features set the Speck Fitfolio apart from its peers.

-Fully viewable bezel
-Complete and substantial coverage of all metal when case is closed
-Multi viewing angle stand capabilty
-Stand stabilty on uneven surfaces
-Professional presentation
-Lightweight & minimal bulk

I've been using this for a week and couldn't be more pleased.

I have been using this case for some weeks, and have tried 4 others.
This is the best case/holder/stand for the IPad2 so far.

While it is not perfect I am pleased with it.
Here are a few criticisms:
The IPad fits very snugly and is a little difficult to remove it from the case.
Well, better snug than loose. The IPad is just too nice to fall.

The elastic "bungee cord" that is meant to hold the cover closed looks like it can break with time, but so far so good.
The faux leather material at the top inside of the case is detaching slightly, but cannot be seen with the IPad in place. It is of little consequence. Still, it is a quality control issue.
The soft material does take dirt into its fibers, but wipes clean easily.

There are 5 positions the pad can sit in, and the case holds well and is stable in all of them. Nice.
As mentioned, there is a small piece of narrow elastic cord which can hold the cover latched and closed.
The case adds very little bulk to the IPad yet protects it fairly well. All control and ports are accessible.
The case is pretty, functional and slender, just like me.
Until I find something better I will just have to recommend this one.
Cheers !

I loved this case for one week!
It is very form fitting, smooth to touch and easy to handle.
Props up nicely, and folds all the way back if need be.
I found it in a purplish plumb color at Walmart that goes great with the white iPad.
BUT, after taking it on vacation, the bungee cord that holds it closed, could not handle all the open and closing. It has stretched out and it is very thin, it is just a matter of time till it snaps off!

I bought this case after growing frustrated with Apple's clever magnetized cover. While the automatic on/off feature and the magnetized attachment have the "cool factor," I was often annoyed when trying to hold my iPad2 in one hand while simultaneously keeping the folded-back Apple cover from flapping around. Worse, if my kids accidentally grabbed the cover but not the entire iPad, it would pull right off -- twice allowing my expensive toy to go crashing to the (thankfully carpeted) floor.

Also, I wasn't in love with the fact that the back of the iPad was completely unprotected. I've only had it for a few weeks and already it's picked up a couple of scratches. It's only cosmetic, true, but I'd like to keep this thing looking good for a while.

I decided to give the Speck FitFolio a try because it had the following features:

- a folio, rather than sleeve-type, form factor
- a hardshell back and padded front for protection
- a design that allows the iPad to securely clip into place
- multiple adjustment points for viewing (the Apple cover only offered a couple of options)
- the ability to latch the cover closed with an elastic closure -- which works equally well to hold the cover in place when it's folded back and I'm holding the iPad in one hand (hooray!)
- color options other than black (I bought the red one)

The reason I'm giving four stars instead of five has to do with durability concerns. I'm already seeing wrinkles forming in the areas of the case that bend when you use the stand feature. Since it's "vegan" leather (which I'm pretty sure is a fancy name for vinyl), I'm concerned that it will eventually crack. But only time will tell!

Also, it doesn't include the automatic on/off feature of the Apple cover.

After less than 2 months of light use the bungee strap that holds this case shut has come unsewen. Upon contacting the manufacturer of the product they said they could not warranty any product purchased from unauthorized online sellers. When I asked who was authorized to sell their products online they couldnt give me a straight answer. It seems that more and more manufacturers are using this excuse as an out so they dont have to stand behind their products and actually fulfill their warranty obligations. Save yourself the hastle and headache and buy a product that wont break within 2 months, even when barely used.

I've never written an Amazon review before and I hate that my first one has to be this negative, but here goes. Bought this case at Target and loved it for the first two weeks, but then noticed that there was a little spiderweb crack in the upper left corner of the screen. We'd kept it in the case the whole time and never dropped it except onto the couch, so we took it to the Apple Store to get replaced. They were very understanding and gave my wife a new unit, saying that the glass can be fragile and they weren't that surprised. As my wife was putting the new iPad 2 in the case (and thank GOD she did it in store), the glass on the new iPad shattered, from both corners where she was trying to click the case in. The Apple Store guys saw it happen and gave her a second new one; they said they'd never seen anything like it. Took this one back and got a smart cover, so far so good.

Overall I like the Speck cases but I don't think I'll buy another hard shell case since they put a lot of pressure on the glass; go for the soft ones.
