5.0 out of 5 stars This is for a regular 13" Macbook, NOT a 'PRO'
Finally, we found it. WE had been looking for a GREEN speck see-thru case for our duaghters 13" MacBook (NOT a Pro). Apple stores NEVER seemed to have green. The Speck website was of no help. Amazon finally came through! However, we were confused...the title indicates 'MacBook Pro 13-inch', but the 'Pro' version of MacBooks starts at 15". After much research all I could...

O.K., so what is the purpose of this case? I thought it was to protect the unit from cosmetic damage. Unfortunately, it creates just as much damage as it protects against. After using for one year, take it off and you will find what I did: marks everywhere, all over your Macbook. Marks that follow the exact outlines of this case, most notable where there were openings, vents, or seams. You end up having the mold of this case branded permanently onto your MacBook's factory shell. To my mind, it looks worse than just normal scratches. At least they look natural. The marks all over my MacBook now look anything but natural. If the purpose of this case is protection, it's not going to help most people. The MacBook, like the iBook, is already made specifically for the rough and tumble handling of children and students. That is why they are made out of tough plastic to begin with. The addition of another layer of plastic is not going to stop the screen from being cracked in most situations where the screen would be cracked without the added case anyway. Now, I can see how this would be a better product on both accords when used with a MacBook Pro since their cases can be dented (so this would help stop that) and also they do not scratch or show pressure marks as easily as the MacBooks (so the branding marks may not be visible on them like they are on these) but I haven't used this product on them so I can't say. On the MacBooks, this case earns a failing grade based on my experience. It's heavy, it's bulky, it's ugly, it doesn't add much more trauma/dropping protection and as I said the cosmetic protection is negligible since it adds as much as it stops. 1/5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is for a regular 13" Macbook, NOT a 'PRO', January 17, 2009
After much research all I could find out was that yes a 13" MacBook is NOT A PRO, which meant that this was a typo and the cover SHOULD fit our daughters 13" MacBook...and it DID! Perfectly!

She originally wanted a soft gel-type see thru case which is not made in green per the Speck website, and now she's glad she has the hard case. She loves it!

She liked this hard-case over others as many of her college friends have hard cases which 'touch' the corners of the MacBook shell in a full-contact sort-of-way, which have then developed cracks on the MacBook shell itself. This speck case has tiny risers on the inside corners which keep the cover 'off' the MacBook shell.

One last thing for Parents Only (as young people seem to have come to terms with the expense of protection. In our house...generally because it's not their money.lol): ...these covers 'seem' expensive for a piece of plastic...but they are 'protecting' a large investment. And this price on Amazon is a great price...don't waste your time shopping around, I've already wasted enough time for the both of us :)

This review is from: Speck Products MB13-CLR-SEE-V2 MacBook 13-inch See Thru Hard Case (Clear) (Personal Computers)
I bought this case shortly after purchasing my Macbook, to protect it from my rough and tumble ways with electronics. I carried in my arms, in my bookbag, and as the case became more and more scratched, I believed that all the marks were on the outside. Upon taking the cover off a year and a half, I discovered the plastic of my macbook was starting to wear off. The vents had made an impression on the bottom and there were vertical marks on the top, not to mention the impressions on the sides around the corners. I was extremely disappointed that the product I relied on had ended up harming my computer more than protected it.

4.0 out of 5 stars MacBook case, April 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love the case. I makes the notebook a little heavy, other then that I get a lot of looks when I'm working on it. Speck was charging too much on their website for the case. Thank you Amazon.com! I have a tip also. Every week or so take the case off and wipe the notebook down. If you keep the case on for weeks and months at a time, it will scratch your white MacBook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Hot and sassy, September 21, 2008

I ordered this case for my macbook and its fantastic. It is a beautiful hot pink color but not like the reddish magenta color that they are selling now. Its durable and fits on the mac book perfectly. It protects it well from dust and other damage. This color is hard to come by so its great to find it on amazon. A+++++++++++

1.0 out of 5 stars Speck means "fat" in german., October 5, 2009

The cut-outs for the ports on this case do not fit the ports on a mac laptop, rendering it useless as it is, or making it necessary to cut them out on your own. This is not what I had planned when I bought this as a gift for my son.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good-lookin' but NOT functional, March 18, 2009
Despite the expense (I paid full retail), I got this case with my new MacBook (13") over a year ago because I liked the colored effect and wanted protection from scratches. It certainly looks good, but dirt gets in underneath the cover and causes worse scratching than on my iPod (which doesn't have a cover). The holes line up fine with the ports, but the screen can't be opened all the way because the top and bottom half run into each other. Other people always try to tilt the screen back to see it better which really strains the lid. I like the color (and get lots of comments on it) - which is why I'm giving it 2 instead of 1 - but at full retail it's overpriced and it doesn't protect my computer. Also, the little tabs that keep it clipped to the machine are wearing down (after a little over a year), so it probably won't last much longer.

I have a new macbook 13" and this cover doesn't fit it. I tried to contact company to return it and I couldn't get a hold of anyone. I feel ripped off. I would never buy anything from here again, EVER, I am going to tell everyone I know too.

5.0 out of 5 stars great item, great price, February 5, 2009
looks great, good price, perfect condition

the case doesn't affect heat output at all, but it causes the laptop to not open all the way. but that's how it's designed. otherwise, love it.
