I was searching for an easy-to-use, sturdy, lightweight, padded, firm case for my iPad, something that wouldn't necessarily shout out "Hey, there's an iPad in here!" I think this is the case. Good padding, with one side (the side you should have the screen facing when you insert it) having a stiff insert, to give additional support and protection to the screen. Inner lining is very soft. Description says it fits snugly, and it does - VERY snugly. But it'll never fall out of the case. Good soft handle that's part of the body of the case, so you won't have to worry about the handle falling off. It looks like it'll repel a light rain, and it looks very cool and yet unobtrusive at the same time. I had just bought a case for less than half the price of this case, but as soon as I saw this case at the Apple Store and tried it out, I saw it fit exactly what I was looking for. I don't regret the price at all. When you find the perfect case for your electronics - something that protects them, looks good, and is easy to open and close - it's worth the price. I bought an inCase sleeve for my MacBook 3 years ago, and use it all of the time. It still looks new, protects the MB extremely well, and has been great to use. I feel that this Speck case will be the same for my iPad.

I was looking for an inexpensive iPad case with a handle. Let's face it, the amazing sleek design of the iPad makes it a pain to carry around the house if you have more than one other item to carry. You basically have to commit one hand and arm to the iPad. All of my experience tells me that if you try to carry it under your arm too often, you will, sooner or later, be writing about how you broke your iPad when it slipped out from under your arm, bounced down the back porch stairs, and crashed onto the concrete patio.
So I was just looking for an easier, safer way to carry the iPad around. The PixelShield Hard Carry Sleeve would be perfect except that designers assumed you would not use any other kind of protection, say a Griffin FlexGrip for iPad. Although it can be done, it is difficult to get an iPad with a skin-type case even as thin as theFlexGrip into the sleeve. It would work for me if it were just maybe an eighth of an inch wider or made from a fabric with a tiny bit of stretch. As it is, I'll keep using it, hoping it will stretch out a little over time.

Very snug fit for iPad. For iPad2 it's fine but gets tight if it has a case/smartcover.

I really wanted a neoprene sleeve fit my iPad 2 well with it's smart cover on so I could pop it into my handbag, and it would not get scratched with keys etc. I started with the Amazon product AmazonBasics Sleeve for Netbooks (7"-10"), Apple iPad or Kindle DX - Black. My iPad 2 was swimming in it with 1 inch on both sides. Too loose. Then I got the Philips neoprene sleeve Philips DLN1713 Soft Sleeve for iPad which fits iPad 2 with smartcover nicely and is not too snug so you can take it out easily. It was at full price at a local retailer so I decided to return it and purchase from Amazon. While searching for it I stumbled across Speck sleeve and bought it due to the low price and high ratings.
Please check my pictures next for more detail. Here's what I found. It will fit an iPad 2 easily but is very tight with the smart cover. It fits but you have to pull it out with some force and I am afraid of accidentally dropping it. For iPad don't even think about inserting it with a cover on as it will not fit.
The case is also stiff as it has a impact resistant plastic square inside (see pic for tear down). There is a red velor lining inside to prevent scratches. The handle is definitely convenient to carry it from place to place in your home especially when you're carrying other stuff. The textured exterior provides some protection too. Overall I'm not in love with it but it's functional. By the way, the red is a tomato red and not a deep red.
Some people may like the stiffness of this sleeve, but it reminded me too much of a hot water bottle, and was too stiff to fit nicely in my handbag due to the longish shape. However, it felt very secure and I am sure my iPad 2 would have not slipped out of it. Still, I decided to take it apart to try to get rid of the plastic piece inside to make it less tight for my iPad 2 with smartcover on. So I pulled out a thread and tore apart the velor lining. You can see more detail of the lining in the pictures. After the removal it's much softer and lighter, and I just need to stitch it back up! However, the good news is that the iPad 2 with cover fits nicely and I prefer the softer feel.

I didn't read the dimension of the case carefully. Thus, I found out that the ipad won't fit if there is another case on it already.
