Adequate cover but fit is too loose
on October 11, 2012
On my old iPhone, I used transparent front and back membranes to ward off scratches but still allow the phone to show through. However, the hard edges on the iPhone 5 dug into my palm and made it very uncomfortable to use. The iPhone 5 is also very light and the combination made be think the phone would get dropped a lot. I bought the PixelSkin specifically to make the iPhone 5 more comfortable to grip and protect it in the event of a fall.
The skin is extremely comfortable to hold and the color (Peacock Blue) is very vibrant. Even though it's a rubberized case, it has a fresh modern look to it. The front is raised just a hair above the front screen so it should protect even if it were dropped on its face. And it makes it safer to put the phone face-down without having to worry about scratching.
Overall I'm pleased with the purchase from a look and grip standpoint. However, the skin is pretty loose. It would be easy for dirt, grit, etc. to work it's way between the back of the phone and the cover where it could then leave scratches or mar the phone itself. I also find it can easily start to detach when trying to pull it out from a pocket or my purse.
Pros: Color, grip.
Cons: Loose fit.
