A case that actually works well,
By Joe Smo "G-Unit" (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Speck SkinTight Silicone Case for iPod classic 4G (Frosted Clear) (Electronics)
For those whom this may concern, this case also fits the iPod 30GB Photo. The case isn't as tight as people describe it but it fits perfectly. This case doesn't make the ipod much thicker. It barely adds any weight on in fact.
The plastic that it's made of is great. It is definately scratch resistant; it's so strong that you could use a pocket knife and scratch the back and your ipod won't even be harmed. When you put the case into jean pockets, it tends to stick in there so taking it out will inside-out your pockets (I hope that made sense). This case will not slid off a dashboard either (although I wouldn't recommend it). Although the packaging says that it's shock absorbant, I don't recommend dropping your iPod. For a screen protector and wheel protector, I recommend that you cut out a piece of paper protecter and slip that into the case. The hard plastic that the cases come in will also work but after you cut it out, you'll have to use sandpaper to sand it smooth so it doesn't scratch you iPod once you put it in. After you have the plastic in the case, you're ipod will be completely protected. The only thing i don't like is the top is too wide open and dust tends to get in from the top. The bottom of the case is perfect; it closes completely so the case also acts as a dock protector. I have an iPod 20 GB also, and this fits that as well. As for the 40GB iPods, I wouldn't recommend it. My friends who have the 40GB iPod tell me that it doesn't not fit. Some have been able to JAM the ipod into the case but that cannot be good for it. Taking an iPod (20/30GB) out of the case is very easy and smooth. It will not scratch the ipod at all when you put it in or take it out. For those people who sync thousands of songs at a time, you should take your iPod out of the case because the harddrive gets hot and the skin is only making it hotter... hot = bad. Overall, this case is wonderful. I wouldn't recommend anything as this price is perfect COMPARED TO OTHER CASES. Honestly speaking, I think that these cases took less than 25 cent to make in a factory and I believe that the price is outrageous. Like I said however, COMPARED TO OTHER CASES' PRICES, this is actually pretty good. Pros: + Long lasting material + Cheaper than other cases + Scratch resistant + Doesn't scratch iPod when removing/putting on + You can dock/charge/sync iPod without removing case Cons: - You have to make your own screen/wheel protection - The case's top is a little too large and allows dust to enter - Doesn't have holes in the back to let the iPod "breathe" 5/5 *****

Great Skin for 20 GB iPod.,

I've had a chance to use this skin on my 4G 20 GB iPod for about a week now. Before I list the pros & cons of the item, I'll quickly state that Amazon's price of ~$15 is a good way to protect your investment. I recommend this to anyone who uses their iPod in a mobile environment. (Which is everyone, right???)
Pros: Perfect, tight fit with the 20 GB iPod. When the bottom flap is properly closed (there is a notch which inserts about 1mm into the bottom dock connector) the "holes" on the front of the skin match perfectly with both the display and the clickwheel. Also, the rubberized compound prevents the iPod from sliding on ANY surface-- great for cars if you don't have a mount. It seems very protective of the edges, but I haven't attempted the drop test yet. Top opening allows easy access to the headphone jack and remote connector, but the iTrip may not fit when this is on (I haven't tried, just speculating.) Cons: While it is nice that the bottom flap opens to allow the iPod to sit in a dock (or connect to other accessories), one oversight is that it opens forward. While it may look nicer this way, the flap totally gets in the way of the play/pause button on the clickwheel while the iPod is docked. I am totally being picky at this point, but it is an inconvenience. Also, I have a VERY tight fit with my 20 GB iPod... I don't recommend trying this with the 40 GB iPod unless you want this to be a permanent skin. Overall, for a 20 GB iPod, the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. It's well worth the investment.

not bad but not good,

this skin is not really good because it doesnt have a screen protection, also if you wanna use the ITRIP, you have to take the IPOD out from the Skin....although it protects the 90% of the IPOD
if you really wanna protect your IPOD, i recommend the ISkin...go to www.iskin.com...its more expensive but it really works...

Its an Easy Choice,
By
This review is from: Speck SkinTight Silicone Case for iPod classic 4G (Frosted Clear) (Electronics)
Its an easy choice... Speck's skins let you put your iPod into the docking station, or whatever speaker system you have without wrestling the iPod out of the skin. The hinge at the bottom of the skin lets you kick it aside, and sych, charge or whatever you want.... great protection for you iPod investment. I hemmed and hawed over the purchase for two weeks, until I saw my friend's and realized that the Speck skin is the best available.
You can't go wrong. You'll be glad you bought this skin!

Does Not Fit A 40 Gigabyte iPod,
By Jasie Peltier "J.P." (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Speck SkinTight Silicone Case for iPod classic 4G (Frosted Clear) (Electronics)
I really liked the design of this product, but it does not fit my 40 gig photo iPod at all. It gapes around all the openings, and is stretched to more of an oval around the circular click will. I can see that it would be great for a 20 gig model, but think they need to update the design for the higher capacity Ipods.

Good, but could use a screen protector,
By Ash Nic (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

I ordered this case for my 40GB 4th generation IPod. It fits the 40GB IPod fine, no problem there. The flip down bottom so you can dock it is great, although it does somewhat block the play button, but it is so flexible that it really is a non-issue.
My only complaint is that it doesn't have a screen protector. On their website, they said to cut a piece of plastic off the packaging it comes with (hard plastic) and use that. That works pretty well, there is a lip inside the case that holds it in. Definitely worth it for $14.

This skin is easy to put on and does it's job. I am discovering that the clear skin does start to look dingy after a while, althought I haven't tried cleaning it. I also don't like that I have to flip up the bottom flap to plug it in because I use it with a car charger a lot and the flap gets in the way of the touch wheel; and there is no screen protection with this skin.

Really good product with one small flaw,
By
This review is from: Speck SkinTight Silicone Case for iPod classic 4G (Frosted Clear) (Electronics)
I received mine as a gift along with my 20 GB iPod itself, and I really enjoy having the protection, as well as the slip resistant surface of the case. It was a little difficult to put on at first, but anything brand new isn't going to fit perfectly the first time you put it on. I've taken it out since, and it slips back in without a problem. And because it is supposed to be a protective skin you can expect things to be a little tight.
One thing that I noticed from a friend's case though: he has an iTrip, and had to cut out little notches in the top opening so that the iTrip would fit. I don't plan on using mine in my car for right now, but when I do, I think I might want to go with another case. However, if you are not one for keeping things as new as possible (like me) then you might not mind the small amount of damaged to the case. It isn't that noticable unless you are looking for it.

WAIT! Buy the Speck with armband instead,
By
This review is from: Speck SkinTight Silicone Case for iPod classic 4G (Frosted Clear) (Electronics)
I got this skin with the armband for $24. I haven't had a chance to use the armband yet, so I can't speak for that, but I can only assume it's a better deal to get both for the same price.
As for the Skin itself, I haven't been bumping it around yet, either, but I don't think it compares favorably to my Contour Design Showcase ($22). I spent a lot of time deliberating over cases, and the Showcase seems much sturdier, or at least more substantial. The front (which covers, blessedly, the screen) is rigid plastic, rather than the Skin's gel plastic, and the sides are grippy and hard. I feel more confident about it protecting my iPod than I do about the Skin; I only plan on using the Speck Skin with the armband, and will stick to the Showcase otherwise.

Does a great job; Near perfect,

Protects my iPod 20g Color 4g very well. If you use a dock it has a convenient lower section to flip for good connection. Top is open as well as click wheel providing access. As there is no clip or loop function you'll be requiring an additional carrier. Enjoy!
