Beautiful coffee table book,
By Angel Lee "Liocorno Amethyst Moonstone" (Cleveland, OH United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Spectacular Ireland (Hardcover)
This is an essential book for anyone of Irish descent or who simply loves and wants to learn more about Ireland. It features brief historical information and many large breathtaking photos on premium glossy stock. In the Ancient sites section many mysterious tombs with huge rocks are shown. Next, you get a look into Ireland's stone monasteries & abbeys featuring majestic stone crosses. Grand Castles are then explored. The following sections on Ireland's gardens & landscapes are truly dazzling. The colors are so vibrant they make you feel as if you're there. A few 3-page fold-out panorama's are included. The cites chapter highlights Ireland's buildings including many impressive photos of doorways, churches, & cityscapes. Lastly, the Irish people are shown playing sports, celebrating holidays, & performing traditional dances & music.

A Must Have!,

First of all, please note that this is a coffee table-type book. It is oversized and oddly-shaped. So if that bothers you, steer clear.
BUT the size is very appropriate to the pictures! It's a large-rectangular book that fits the panoramic wide-angle photography inside of it! The photos are intensely colored and the paper used in side the book is a thicker, glossy high-quality paper. Some of the most gorgeous photographs of Irelands landscapes, castles and towns are in this book. It also includes a bit of history. FYI... the book normally comes with a slip-cover that has the same cover design printed on it that the actual book cover underneath has. Nice touch. A lot of books of this fashion do not have the same cover printed on the actual book itself, but only the slip-cover. Very nice. If you love photography or Ireland...or both....this is the book for you!

I recently moved to Ireland, and my wife and I wanted something to base our site seeing. It has been a great help in deciding our weekend trips. The pictures depict Ireland correctly. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!

The Journey is the Reward,
By Marilyn Stevenson (Chicago Illinois USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spectacular Ireland (Hardcover)
Spectacular Ireland takes you on a journey through Irish time and scenery that is as rewarding as traveling to the country in person (almost!). The text is logically laid-out and easily understood. The pictures are exquisite with good explanations of what they are and where they are located. Absolutely fabulous!

This is a beautiful book with spectacular photography. I was disappointed, however, in the lack of historical background and descriptions. The other issue: the type is TINY. I bought this for my mother and she needs a magnifying glass to read the copy! It appears to be set in a 7- or 8- point font, which is virtually unreadable.

The Photographs are awesome! Many of the photos take up both pages, which are so clear and gorgious. The old castles are so neat and look completely beautiful in the middle of Ireland's green moors. It is DEFINITELY a book worth buying!

I ordered this book for my daughter's wedding as keepsake book with guests writing in their "best wishes" on the pages. The honeymoom was in Ireland, so this was a natural.
The book lived up to it's title. It contains truly spectacular photography. I am very happy with the purchase and of course Amazon's "typical" spectacular service. BC, Longwood, FL

This is a great book to give to someone who will be traveling to Ireland in the future, has visited before, or is just a huge fan of this amazing country and wants a good coffee table book. The photos are gorgeous and really showcase the beauty of the Emerald Isle. There's also a great variety of photos: not just from one area of the country. It also gives you a bit of historical background. There are several pages that fold out to reveal huge panoramic shots. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Ireland. It really is spectacular!
