3.0 out of 5 stars Who is Sikes?, April 24, 2006
By
CoolTigersRule (Versailles, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Specter (St. Antony's MacMillan Series (London, England)) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Specter is a book about a girl named Dina that is in the hospital because of cancer. Then a girl named Julie comes to be her roommate in the hospital. Dina later finds out that Julie is in the hospital from a car accident she got into with her mom and dad. Julie tells her a guy named Sikes made them get into the car accident and killed her parents. Then she says Sikes is now trying to kill her. Dina and Julie then become very good friends and Dina helps Julie with her problems. Julie never wants Dina to leave her because she thinks Sikes will get her if Dina does. Julie even wants to live with her when they get out of the hospital. Will Dina find Sikes and help Julie get on with her life?
One thing I like about this book is that it is a kind of scary mystery book; those are the kind of books I like. Also it has a lot of action in it. A reason that I did not like this book is because at times it got kind of confusing trying to figure out what was going on and who all the characters were. It was hard knowing the characters because there was so much of them. Also at times it got boring. Overall this book was a pretty good book.
I would recommend this book to people that like mystery and scary books. Through the whole book I was trying to figure out if Sikes was true and who he was. If you like the author Joan Lowery Nixon you should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Nixon Book By Far!!!!!!!!!!!, August 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Specter (Hardcover)
This is the greatest Nixon book I have ever read, it was the first one I have read and I have gone back to read it several times, including doing two book reports on it. It's spine chilling and nerve wracking. You can't put it down, so don't even try! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, and then makes you fall off with a surprize ending! Definatly five stars and fifty exclamation points!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Specter, July 14, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Specter (St. Antony's MacMillan Series (London, England)) (Mass Market Paperback)
This a great mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. I liked how the two main characters (Julie & Dina) needed to be friends, but Dina was afraid that befriending Juilie would make her the target of a killer. I love Nixon's books, especially her suspensful mysterys and I reccomend this book for other young adults to enjoy!
