Spectral Sorrows is the pinnacle of Edge Of Sanity's Death Metal career. Comparable to any classic of Entombed, Dismember, At The Gates, and even Opeth somewhat. If you've heard any of those bands or EOS's 2nd album Unorthodox you'll know what to expect. Buzzsaw, dropped down to B, riffs that are also somehow effused with strong melodic content, ferious drumming and the insane vocal skills of Dan Swano. Edge Of Sanity may be the only band in the world to get the heavy to melodic ratio down perfectly. In many ways this fits perfectly into it's place in the EOS catalog. Expanding upon the sounds of earlier albums like Nothing But Death Remains and Unorthodox but not quite refining it into the more melody-laden sounds of later albums, Purgatory Afterglow and Crimson. This is by far Dan Swano's best DM performance, even though the clean vocals on this album are lacking a bit in quality. At least their few and far apart. No death metal collection is complete without this release.

Great riffs and rythms, a blend of death and gothic metal. It is music that will take to places where you've never been before.

This album is really something. Dan Swano is an awesome metal producing mind. This was the evolution after Unorthodox, while not bad, it lacked a little of proffesionalism displayed in this cd. The songs are ULTRA heavy, with alot of death metal growling, and interesting riffs, and catchy melodies. A real death metal album. Though "Sacrificed" sounds a little bit weird, kind of a electric metal, without the Swano grunts, however its surprisingly good, and very refreshing. Great album, buy it.
