4.0 out of 5 stars suprising, March 31, 2011
This review is from: Spectre (Paperback)
I didn't really get anything I expected out of this book, but this time that isn't a bad thing because I was still pretty suprised. Theres some crazy off the wall things here. Like our spectre driving a car for one thing. but I liked the villain here. From the front cover i didn't know what to expect. I just knew it was a guy that came back from the dead for revenge. I was hoping for some kind of zombie crawling from a grave here but actually what we get is a jet black shadowy figure with red eyes. Kinda weird how the character seemed to be able to hover over the ground when it first shows up but later on steals a car and goes on a rampage. Then in the house the thing is haunting for some reason only the youngest child can see him, even though any other time he shows up in the book pretty much everyone can see him. So the book had its head scratching faults but its still gory brutal fun.

For anyone who has happend to read my reviews before you can tell I'm in to 80s cheese dumb fun and thats what you get here with a little added extra. Theres an actual mystery going on here, you want to know why this is happening and that really keeps you turning the page. Why has this figure come back from the grave. Is a ghost? Or is it something more? The explination for things I thought was a bit over the top but that happens a lot in these types of novels. The deaths commited by "warren" are pretty brutal and it leaves you dying for him to get ahold of someone else. He is relentless in his madness. Theres a reason why he's doing what he's doing. I enjoyed this book, and if your into gory revenge from the grave stories then you will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A page turner!, March 24, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Spectre (Paperback)
I found this book to be a refreshing break from some of the uninteresting ones I found in the horror category. Mr.Robbins is quite a storyteller and,I think, underrated. The representation of characters and scenes in his books are quite interesting. He draws your attention from the start and won't let go! I plan to read all of his fine books
