Great series of Sci-Fi and Fantasy artwork,
By Jesse Clark (Magalia, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Spectrum 5: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art (Paperback)
I bought this book many years ago and have been collecting the whole series ever since. The printing is always looks great (I work in prepress at a printshop so I notice these things).
And of course the artwork is awesome. I see a lot of book covers and even some movies artwork as well as a wide range of cool sci-fi and fantasy artwork. This is a great set of art books for any one who is into sci-fi/fantasy stuff or anyone who enjoys art in general. I highly recommend them.

All Spectrums are good,

This review is from: Spectrum 5: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art (Paperback)
Spectrum is eye candy, lets face it. It's good material for artists who need a boost for their imaginations and gives a lot for checking out styles. Of course its not a "how to" book. Its simply to be admired and for idea spin-offs.

Consistently high standards,
By wiredweird "wiredweird" (Earth, or somewhere nearby) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Spectrum 5: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art (Paperback)
The annual Spectrum collections pull together the finest in fantasy and science fiction art. Entries in this collection represent different purposes: advertising, book covers, other commercial art, unpublished portfolio pieces, and others. Media cover an equally wide range: oils, acrylic, and watercolor, of course, but also digital media and sculptural ("dimensional") pieces in resin, bronze, porcelain and other materials. Moods, likewise, explore every direction that art can take a viewer: romantic, goofy, heroic, gentle, and others harder to name.
Every Spectrum has its own high points, so don't feel that owning one will stop you from enjoying others. Quite the opposite: more of these wonderful works give lots more to enjoy. - wiredweird |
