Product Description

Unrefined oils are just that—left in their virgin state after pressing. These oils tend to be rich, robust and ‘true' in their flavors. Take Spectrum's Peanut Oil for example—it quite literally smells and tastes just like fresh roasted peanuts. Or Spectrum's Unrefined Coconut Oil, which has an aroma so pure it transports you to the tropics.

Spectrum is an organic producer which sells refined as well as unrefined VCO in many different labellings, different containers, glass to plastic. Spectrum VCO are identified as Essentials but for cooking it is identified as Naturals.

I use VCO in the mix for my hair, shaving cream, soap, hand lotion, face lotion, body lotion, tooth paste as well as I make popcorn and consume it straight out of the jar for its nutrients. Years ago, I was able to get raw, hand pressed coconut oils from fresh coconuts from Mexico produced right here in US but due to popularity of VCOs, many producers have been creative in making money by misleading shoppers as well as many misleading reviews by shoppers certainly has hyped the business of VCO to another level. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is a lie since Extra Virgin applies only to olive oil and infact the VCO market has become so saturated that many producers are removing extra from their labeling and calling it virgin coconut oil, no more extra virgin. In Canada where the best VCOs are produced, it is illegal to even use the term, extra virgin for coconut oil but in US the laws are very relaxed. There is no Extra Virgin coconut oil, only virgin, there is no pure, no #1, no 100%, no premium liquid, or any of those terms used for coconut oils. There is no coconut oil especially produced for beauty product which is any different than for cooking or consumption either as a salad dressing or right out of the jar with a spoon.

I love this brand. I love that the coconut oil is organic, I love the size of the jar, and I even love the jar, which I use for storing various gardening and kitchen tools and products after I run out. Use this oil for all cooking, especially any cooking that requires high heat, like pan frying. Vegetable oils have a low smoke point, meaning that they start releasing toxins after you heat them up past a certain point. Not so with coconut oil, which remains safe and delicious at high temperatures.

I purchased this brand some months ago from my local Commissary and I Love it. Not only do you smell the coconut, you also taste it. I use it when I'm baking or pan searing chicken, since I'm trying my best to eat more healthy. Okay, I have also used it the grease a pan when baking brownies and to make homemade chocolate syrup. It's almost gone and I will be buying more.

I buy this brand by me all the time. The taste is great! Not to coconut-y. My husband hates coconut and I can still get it into some recipes without him noticing. By me, it's under $10 a jar.

This came in excellant packaging. Each jar was individually bubble wrapped as well. This oil is a wonderful healthful addition to my staples in the kitchen. I use it everywhere that real butter could be used, from light frying to spreading on toast and adding to vegetables.

As far as taste goes this is the best coconut oil I've tried. It has a slightly sweet flavor and melts very easily in coffee. I started using this daily by putting one tablespoon in my coffee. Imagine my surprise when I stepped on my scale and was five pounds lighter. I'd heard that coconut oil helped to increase the metabolism but I didn't realize eating one bottle of coconut oil would help me lose five pounds. It seems ironic that you could lose fat by eating fat but that really seems to be what happened. I also noticed my brain functioning better and I seem more alert and in a good mood. This coconut oil can be used for medium heat cooking as well. It is unrefined, organic and virgin. What more can you wish for? I'll be buying this again.

My friend recommended this for my mom, who is 88, saying that studies indicate that it helps improve mental function. He said it also has other health benefits, and that it would be good for me, too. So, we are both using it, and I would say that, based on his recommendation, anyone who thinks they could benefit from this product should try it. Also, it smells good, and tastes pretty good.

Glad I could purchase in bulk quantity. My Mom has mood swings as she gets older and it was suggested that I try putting coconut oil in some of the food she eats. Putting 2 teaspoons with her oatmeal in the morning has improved her mood. Good price and fast shipping. would purchase again.
