Useful Motown-era collection.,

If it took Jermaine's appearance on the UK version of "Big Brother" to get more of his music onto CD, then so be it. This CD is a UK import that covers his Motown years (up to 1982), so that means no "Dynamite" or "Do What You Do" since those came out in '84. But you do get three songs off his unjustly ignored 1978 album FRONTIERS, which, believe it or not, is a very good thing, as that was a great funk/r&b album. This collection does make some strange song choices, ignoring some singles in favor of obscure album tracks. This isn't always a bad thing, but "You Like Me Don't You" from '81 was one of his best songs, and a UK hit, so why isn't it here? On the other hand, it might have been best to exclude his too-slick disco single "Let's Be Young Tonight" from '76, as that might try the patience of most contemporary listeners. But anyway, there's some cool uptempo hit-worthy tunes on here, particularly "I Can't Take No More" from '81, that until now were not on CD, and the remastering sounds great. Overall, a good choice for anyone curious about Jermaine's solo work, as well as the long-time fan.

This is getting a 5 star review mainly because it is not the standard batch of songs found on other Motown era compilations. Most of these songs are getting their debut on CD, and while some are surely not ground breaking, they deserve to be heard. "The Bigger You Love (The Harder You Fall)" is a big surprise to me. I have never heard this one and I am bowled over by it. It's hot! Other highlights are "You Gave Me Something To Believe In" and "If Yu Don't Love Me". It doesn't include a couple of songs that you would think would be on here, (Daddy's Home and You Like Me Dont't You), even so, this is the best compilation out there...

Good collection,

i've always been a fan of Jermaine Jackson's. from back in the day seeing him playing bass and singing at the same time and I also dug his vocal presentation. this collection has quite a few of his hits including Let's get serious,I'm just too shy and Let me tickle your fancy. Jermaine had a distinctive vocal style and approach to Groove. this is a Good Collection from a very Underrated Artist. the Jacksons will always rule.

Not Enough Jermaine!,
This review is from: Spectrum Collection (Audio CD)
Jermaine Jackson's Motown album catalog is as follows, "Jermaine" (1972), "Come Into My Life" (1973), "My Name Is Jermaine" (1976), "Feel The Fire" (1977), "Frontiers" (1978), yet another album titled "Jermaine" (1979), "Let's Get Serious" (1980), "I Like Your Style" (1981) and "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy" (1982). This is a lot of amazing music sitting in Motown's vaults. And while I do own this "Big Brother Jermaine" collection, it's not enough to make up for what Motown could and should do. Reissue all of these albums!! They make up for over half of Jermaine's solo career. I've bought each of these albums as they were released. I'm an old school Jackson 5 fan and have bought all of their recordings on vinyl, 8-Track, Cassette, CD and even in the MP3 format. Jermaine is an amazing artist with an amazing body of solo work. It"s simply ridiculous not to release this material remastered and perfected, especially while the man is alive and well! Motown take note, please reissue Jermaine's lost music from your vaults! And while you're at it don't forget Jackie Jackson's 1973 solo release! Die hard fans have been waiting for years and we're not getting any younger!

BIG BROTHER - JERMAINE,
This review is from: Spectrum Collection (Audio CD)
I dont think I am alone, for my age group, of almost dismissing anything Jacksons as not really my kind of Motown. However, I'm into my 2nd play on the trot of this CD, and its a cracker, you can see the Smokey R influence, IF YOU DONT LOVE ME...that is a killer track.... closely followed by YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN & then THATS HOW LOVE GOES or LETS BE YOUNG TONIGHT... hardly a bad sound on their..well done Spectrum..yet again..great value for money...best MOTOWN CD release to date is the double Elgins...wow!!!
