I'm not sure where or if you studied math, but your numbers are completely wrong. The label clearly states this product contains 800mg of Omega-3 oil. Of that total 360mg is EPA and 240mg is DHA. It also contains 200mg of other Omega-3 for a total Omega-3 content of 800mg. As for the 18/12 number it's pretty easy to see that that is the same ratio as 360/240. It's also quite obvious that your claim that the 18 and 12 are percentages of Omega-3 is incorrect. EPA, at 360mg, is 45% (not 18%) of the total 800mg Omega-3. DHA, at 240mg, is 30% (not 12%) of the total Omega-3. And then, of course, if you add that 45% and 30% you come up with your own magic number of 75% for "pharmaceutic" grade fish. You are also misinformed about the FDA regulating numbers on the labels. ([....]) "Under DSHEA, a firm is responsible for determining that the dietary supplements it manufactures or distributes are safe and that any representations or claims made about them are substantiated by adequate evidence to show that they are not false or misleading. This means that dietary supplements do not need approval from FDA before they are marketed." So you guys keep on spending outrageous sums for a product that does NOT exceed the quality of the Spectrum Fish Oil and is NOT in any way approved or sanctioned by the FDA.

Steer Clear of Low Grade Junk Fish Oils Like This, November 11, 2010
This review is from: Spectrum Essentials Spectrum Fish Oil, 1000 mg, 100 SoftGels, From Sustainably Harvested Fish, (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
This spectrum company is hilarious with their tactics to try and fool consumers. Their low quality junk fish oil is the lowest grade fish oil out there. 18/12 doesn't refer to a ratio of EPA to DHA, it refers to percentages of EPA and DHA to the overall omega-3 fatty acid content. 18% is EPA and 12% is DHA. The lowest of the low. Only 30% total. It doesn't get lower. The only fish oil I will ever buy is pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Why? Well there are a bunch of reasons all of which can be discovered with a few nice google searches and some attention to fish oil nutritional labeling. A funny thing that the Spectrum web site states about pharmaceutical grade fish oil... "No `Pharmaceutical Grade' monograph exists in the United States for fish oil supplements. As proven throughout our history, Spectrum is a company dedicated to truth in labeling--and for being our customers' advocate for honest claims. We believe it is imperative that our customers are properly informed in their purchasing decisions. Lately there has been a disturbing amount of companies claiming to sell `pharmaceutical grade' fish oil supplements. In the spirit of protecting people's right to know the truth about what they're buying, we want our customers to understand just how misleading and detrimental these false `pharmaceutical grade' claims really are to the credibility of the industry... blah blah blah". Now what they fail to mention is that the percentages of EPA and DHA in these pharmaceutic grade fish oils is FAR above (75% and higher) the junk products Spectrum is selling and is clearly stated on the nutritional label. And these numbers on the label ARE indeed regulated by the FDA. Sorry Spectrum but YOU are the ones being dishonest with consumers.

My Favorite Brand of Fish Oil, October 18, 2010
This review is from: Spectrum Essentials Spectrum Fish Oil, 1000 mg, 100 SoftGels, From Sustainably Harvested Fish, (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
Fish oil is so strongly recommended these days, that I even give it to my dog. I've tried different brands, and this one is my favorite. I usually take 3 or 4 capsules a day (a serving is 2 capsules). This stuff has a thick enough shell that you don't taste it coming back on you later. It's the same size as the other brands I've tried, which is on the big side. It's easier to swallow than a calcium tablet, though, if that's any help. I have confidence that the Spectrum brand is what it says it is. Fish oil can be a blood thinner, so if you're taking aspirin or another thinner, you might want to ask your doctor or pharmacist about cutting back on it. I've heard one should stop using it a week or so before any surgeries. My Amazon order has a use by date of May 13, 2012, so it seems pretty fresh.
