I've been buying the Spectrum collections since year one (though I missed two of them) and every volume has been enjoyable. Some of the later books hit their stride a bit better, but what I love about volume 3 in the series is that from the Frazetta cover forward, it does its best to pay tribute to the many imaginative works of art that had been executed during the year. You will find some volumes of Spectrum heavier in one area or another (if I recall correctly, this one has a lot of Magic: the Gathering art), but I think that is more a reflection of the year than anything else.

Inside a Spectrum book you will see paintings, drawings, sculptures and more. Everything is real, digital, or a combination of both, and each states the medium it was produced in and the client who requested it. There are a lot of pop culture pieces in here: Tolkien art, comic heroes, book covers, and more. Looking at the cover of this volume, be aware that some of the works presented will have nudity, violence, and a bit of gore. If you're comfortable with this sort of thing, you'll find the Spectrum series to be very fun to read. There is so much creativity and you see so many different ideas bubbling over as your eyes go from image to image, that I'm very glad we have a way to showcase the hard work of the many talented artists who help us envision things year after year.

This book is full of outstanding digital, arcrylic, oil and sculptures of just amazing art work. I showed most of these Spectrum books to my art classes and they went over well. I enjoy looking at the pictures as weel it creates a spark in my imagination to draw and paint better. I reccomend this book to any one that can handle a slight bit of nudity. But its great you should buy it.
