High Speed CF Compact Flash USB Card Reader for use with Digital SLR, DSLR, Digital Cameras!

Very compact functional way to download travel pictures into a compact NetBook computer which ordinarily doesn't come with too many frills other than a couple of USB ports and perhaps a SD port.

Item is not fancy, but readily accepts CF card which (in my experience)can at times be a little tricky to line up and load into some CF readers.

This is a handy little reader that I will be sure to tuck into my bare-bones travel kit.

I love the small size of this CF card reader. I needed something portable, and didn't want to spend $25+ on a giant plastic box that could read cards I don't own with a 20 foot USB cord to connect it to a computer. The shipping was quick, my Mac mounts the CF card as a drive exactly how I expected, it fits on a biner clip on my backpack, and I couldn't be more pleased!

I regularly rely on this little silver USB-drive-sized CF reader. I've used it frequently for the half year I've had it as my laptop has only an SD card slot. The only issue I've had is that the reader's card slot is shallow and uncovered. That leaves the pins vulnerable to being bent either during sloppy insertion of a CF card or by coming in contact with another object (such as a coin or key if you occasionally keep it in your pocket, as I do). So I have had to bend the pins back a couple of times. Still works well though, and handles today's higher speed and capacity CF cards, unlike the old CF readers I have gathering dust. Those were both far bulkier and more expensive.

I think that those customers who received a purple reader (as pictured in one customer's image) were victimized by a bait and switch scheme and should take this up with the vendor (and Amazon) rather than taking it out on the product. I got mine from New Harbor - unfortunately they don't seem to be among the current vendors of this item.

Mine doesn't look anything like the one in the photo. It is pink and semitransparent. It is a cheap product, but I haven't had any problems with it yet. If you are going to be using it a lot, or you don't have any other way of uploading your photos, I would suggest something a little more than this.

I received this item and was not impressed. It is made of cheap plastics and what's worse, it worked once and then crapped out. It may be the least expensive option out there but I would not recommend it.

Ordered two of these. Received and they are completely different from what's pictured above (these are teardrop shaped and purple, not rectangular and white). Neither work, either. They'll transfer for about 10-15 seconds before conking out. Lousy product. Go with a better solution.

This is a very inexpensive CF Card Reader. I was a little skeptical when I ordered this as a few years ago I destroyed my mother's HP Printer while inserting a CF Card into it so as to print some photoghrphs.
This Card Reader is well built and in fact it has guides built into the side's of the slot so as to prevent the card from being inserted incorrectly.
With this card reader I was able to format my CF card as bootable and update the Firmware on my Canon Digital Rebel XTi DSLR, and I can now access function's previously available only to Canon 5D and 1D DSLR Camera's.

Downsides: Feels very flimsy, entirely too easy to insert the card upside down. Doesn't seem to be capable of UDMA speeds. Pins very susceptible to damage. No instructions included, you just get the reader and cap in a small plastic bag. Mine in particular was really scratched up when I got it, even though it was in a sealed bag.

Upside: Dirt cheap, no drivers needed.

If you want it to last get a Lexar reader. If you just want an extra that you wouldn't care about losing, get this.

I have been looking for a reader like this for a while because I didn't want to mess with with the cord, etc.

I've seen readers staring at $30 online and in the store so I really didn't expect this be be very good but I am pleasantly surprised. I've used it weekly and it has worked each time. It can be a little picky about how you put the card in but I have found that with the $30 products as well.

If you want the functionality and are not concerned that it doesn't look exactly like the picture then you will be happy.

Mine is like R.Childress listed below - purple see-through color 'swoop', hard to describe. It works, but it's 100% different than the picture. Not even same shape/size at all. I don't care that much, I just need something that works and it's cheap, but if you want something that looks remotely like the picture, you won't get it.
