Format: Audio CD
I found that the return to the "harder-than-thou" style of breakbeat techno is unmatched in this CD compilation... it practically destroys all the other "140+ bpm" compilations in exception to volume one of the series... A good choice for those looking for exciting, erratic breakbeats without going to sleep due to the lame melody, or a "hardcore" compilation without the crappy [sped-up] house/rave straight-beats that hardcore artists are repeatedly using nowadays. do not buy any other hardcore techno CD other than 140+ volume 1 and 8! They are all the hardcore that you need for the rest of your life...

This release and the one before it (Volume 7 Ride the ultrabeat)
we're a serious return to the mania that was one of the finest CD's compiling the sound of early UK undergound hardcore in North America, the original 140 BPM+ CD. The ones in the middle were mostly jungle in style, but Numbers 1, 7, 8 are must have if you love GOOD happy hardcore with old school muscle!! great listening. This one is my most played of the series & I have em all. Sure the Anabolic Frolic cd's that came after these are very good spins, but this series is the genesis :)

A few good classics on here. These were some of the last few tracks that Justin Time produced before he started the "Triple J" name, then completely leaving Hardcore. The speed range is between 158-165 bpm, (which was normal at this time period), and all the tracks are vinyl style, which means you get the full length of the track unlike mixed cds. If you love the old break beat style, you will like this cd, not a lot of tracks have the continous 4/4 beat.
