I purchased the Speed Queen front loading washer (AFN50FS) and I love it. It's very quiet, holds a lot more clothes than my last front loader, and gets clothes drier in the spin cycle than any machine I've ever had. I'm writing this review because the other review is so off the mark compared to my experience. I found out about the Speed Queen from the appliance repair man who was here to fix our old washer. Because of the cost to fix the old Maytag (broken circuit board, bad pump, etc), we decided to get a new washer. After seeing a negative review like the one on Amazon, I was confused, but I trusted our repair man and bought the Speed Queen. It's excellent! Less vibration or noise than any washer I've had, very water and energy efficient, and it does a great job of cleaning. There are many cycle options (delicate, large comforters, etc). Best washer I've ever owned!

I like this machine a lot and would not hesitate to buy one again. After almost 20 years of flawless service our Kenmore top loader started to act up and we knew it was time to replace it. We did not like the new generation of high efficiency top loaders so that led us to look at the recent crop of front loaders and there are a shocking amount to choose from. Each brand has a ton of 5 star rating reviewed machines and those reviews that were negative were very few. So we narrowed down our selection to front loaders that did the basics which ruled out steam, and water heating. All I wanted was some basic cleaning cycles for normal, perm press, delicate and heavy duty. Most of my washes are done using cold water and I only use hot water for washing whites so my requirements are simple.

There were not a lot of reviews for the Speed Queen Front Load washing machines, but the internals used in the Speed Queen home washer are also used in their commercial laundry mat washers except that the laundry mat version has a coin collector/credit card reader and a commercial looking outer shell. So this gave me the opportunity to do a few loads with a Speed Queen front load machine before buying. That convinced me to get one and after washing many a load at home I have no regrets.

I am not going to go into the details of what I like about my Speed Queen AFN50F for I suggest that you decide that for yourself by going to the local laundry mat and give one a try. Be aware that you need to look for the particular commercial models that have the same internal design as the home model. These are typically the smallest Speed Queen front load washers in the place. Speed Queen also has some larger more heavy duty all stainless commercial models that are not the same.

It was installed laast Saturday. PLEASE NOTE that we ttied to use it but the rattling started and it ruined our floor. We tried to use it twice and called where we purchased it. Very exspensive machine. Today being Tuesday they finally came and then realized they HAD NOT TAKEN OFF THE HUGE BRACKET UNDERNEATH WHERE THE SHOCKS WERE STILL ATTACHED! Then after balancing it properly it has worked just fine. Wr have the Speed Queen Commercial capacity dryer and have been very pleased with it. There is no compasison to all the other washers and dryers built outside the USA and what we thought were USA made machines but were not.
Speed Queen really is the best and USA made. After the un-educated in reference to a Speed Queen machine finally figured out the problem was his I give this machine a 5 star rating!

I have been an owner of this unit for just over 12 months and I have never had such a terrible experience with any other washer. I could handle the $1,500+ investment on this thing if it operated like a $1,500 machine..... However, there is nothing you can do to get a load balanced in this thing and when the washer goes into the spin cycle it sounds like a jet plane taking off - THEN the rattling starts - the panels that make up the housing rattle and one or more components inside the unit rattle making this a true BEAST at full operating speed (our 2 dogs run for the hills with their tails between their legs.) If you buy this thing you better place it in your garage or in another building or plan on doing laundry while you're away from home as you will not rest while this thing is running!

I would go into the details about how loose change that accidently finds its way into the machine will clog the discharge pump, but that is another story and that fix is not covered under warranty!
